Unbiased, Objective CNN Reporter Heckles McCain During Press Conference In Baghdad

From Drudge:

During a live press conference in Bagdad, Senators McCain and Graham were heckled by CNN reporter Michael Ware. An official at the press conference called Ware’s conduct “outrageous,” saying, “here you have two United States Senators in Bagdad giving first-hand reports while Ware is laughing and mocking their comments. I’ve never witnessed such disrespect. This guy is an activist not a reporter.”

Senators McCain and Graham flew into Iraq and drove into Bagdad, making stops at an open market and a joint Iraq/American military security outpost before appearing at the press conference.

This is not the first time Michael Ware has taken issue with Senator McCain’s comments about early progress in Iraq. Last week, after Senator McCain told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer that he needed to catch up on the news coming out of Iraq, Michael Ware responded, saying:

“I don’t know what part of Neverland Senator McCain is talking about when he says we can go strolling in Baghdad.”

Michael Ware has also publicly expressed his views on the war last year in an interview with Bill Maher, saying, “I’ve been given a front-row ticket to watch this slow-motion train wreck … I try to stay as drunk for as long as possible while I’m here … In fact, I’m drinking now.”

I posted on Ware’s appearance on Maher’s show about a year ago and had this to say at the time:

Here we have Time Magazine’s Baghdad bureau chief (Michael Ware) appearing on Bill Maher’s show - visibly drunk, slurring words and claiming to be drinking alot to forget about his odds of survival - engaging in some good old fashioned, wink-and-a-nod liberal hate of both the President and the mission in Iraq. This man, who is supposed to be a professional and objective observer in Iraq, sits there and cooperates with Maher as they both spread innuendo about massacarring civilians and U.S. troops mistreating Iraqi women and then sits back and laughs with Bill as the sycophants in the audience applaud the stupid, half-baked defeatist talking points being bandied about.

This is an example of the sort of people we’re supposed to get our news of Iraq from? This is someone whose reporting we are supposed to be basing our political decisions on here at home?

Give me a break.

And we wonder why we can’t get any balanced or fair coverage of the war in Iraq.  With “objective” reporters like Ware bringing us the news, who need enemies?

What difference does it make, the world is shit anyway? No one gives a damn about McCain (Me either), so the real objection cannot possibly be because we are upset that Viet Cong Johhny McCain was attacked; it is just that this reporter is on the Left and he is clearly not a fair-minded journalist, but I have to ask so what? There are no fair minded journalists left anymore, not one; or anyone else for that matter that is fair and decent to anyone else, so why pick on this guy? After all, he is no worse than most posting here (including me), virtually none of us are fair minded, we all have a bias and if push comes to shove we won’t do any better than this guy!

If there were some professional journalists out there that were examples of fair, balanced, decent and solid reporting; then we would have something to measure this guy against and judge him by their performance. But, there are no fair minded, professional journalists left, so by what standard do we measure him? It becomes arbitrary, he is on the Left so being unprofessional, biased and an ass are bad and ugly; if the guy was on the Right, he was just being agreesive in the face of the hypocrisy of these politcians and a great reporter.

Neiman,

I thought I read where you weren’t feeling so good yesterday, is that right?

It might explain your melancholy temperment.

Can you say chill pill? Bi-polar? ...

Zsa Zsa on April 1, 2007 at 03:43 pm

HG: Yes, I was in urgent care for a few hours yesterday and go back to a secialist this week, sorry to say for Justin and Zsa Zsa’s sake; I haven’t been told I am terminal or anything, as I would look forward to their getting naked together and doing the happy dance on my grave. But, it is also the two year anniversary of my son’s death in Iraq and I am more bummed out this year than since it happened. I’ve been down for a couple of weeks emotionally, kind of depressed really. Thanks for asking though!

Yet, I am still concerned because I see on so many fronts that this war is impossible because we have so many enemies here at home working against it. My grandson is heading home very soon, my nephew just got back. I look at our news media and with few exceptions I just don’t have any respect for any of them; and so I just feel it may be a bit unfair to point out one idiot, while he swims in a sea of idiots!

Zsa Zsa: I was going to say something very rude, but you are not worth the effort.

I am sorry. AND I apologize. I hope you will forgive me? Truly!

Zsa Zsa on April 1, 2007 at 04:02 pm

Zsa Zsa: Actually, I am sorry for being a shit sometimes and especially lately, losing my son is more painful than I can say, some days it eats me alive with grief and anger!

God bless you , Neiman. I really can’t even imagine how painful that must be. Especially with all the idiot liberals in Congress the media etc.

Zsa Zsa on April 1, 2007 at 04:15 pm

I don’t see this to be that much about McCain (who did lay an egg with that comment about Americans being able to stroll through Baghdad), as much as the continuing unprofessional behavior of Michael Ware, and the willingness to let a complete sod act as their senior correspondent in Baghdad.

Imagine that, a journalist with a drinking problem.

Or an alcoholic with a journalism problem…

Neiman:  Please accept my condolences also.  And please accept my apologies on behalf of all the liberal jerks who have trivialized your sacrifice.  In my book you and your son are heros.

Drudge reports something that is repeated throughout the blogosphere, but then video of the press conference is released that shows the alleged heckling DID NOT TAKE PLACE. Anyone have the intellectual honesty to apologize for spreading this purported “news”?
