Unanimous Support For The War?

Earlier today the Senate unanimously approved an additional $70 billion in funding for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Unanimously.

J.R. Ewing comments:

These phonies will badmouth Bush, saying the war is a mistake, that we should pull out immediately, and that everything has been handled poorly. Then every single one of them votes to ok us spending more money on the war. Kind of makes it seem like all of their belly aching is strictly political maneuvering.

It does, doesn’t it?

I’ve been saying for a while now that Democrat opposition to the war is all bluster and political expediency.  Republicans are for the war in Iraq, so Democrats are against it.  Its not about sound foreign policy, its about staying in office.  When it comes down to brass tacks, though, and Democrats are asked to put their votes where their mouths are (especially this close to an election) their actions are a bit more revealing.

The same people yammering to get out of Iraq were the same morons yammering about the vacuum that was left in Afghanistan before we got there which allowed the dirt bags to plan their attacks on civilization.

Meanwhile, their spokesman, Zawahiri, calls the President a liar, just like all the rest of the Dems.  From this vote, it looks like the Dems are the real liars…

No, the money is to support our troops there.  The political question on the war are still viable and debatable.

They had their chance to stand against Chimpy McHitlerBurton and instead they folded like the cheap suits they are. Typical leftard crap. And we will get to see the Republicans not swing this baseball bat for all it is worth. Everytime the Democrat Party does this crap they get away with it.

Voting for funding and supporting the war are two separate issues.

brenario: What do you expect from people who are so logically challenged that they can say “We support the troops, but we are against the war.” with a straight face?  This is a psychological condition known as compartmentalism, and their leader, Clinton, suffered from an extreme case of it.  Still does.  That’s why he lies so much.  He really believes it at the time, even if it doesn’t make sense, or disagrees with something else he said at another time.

Supporting the troops and funding the war are one and the same. Inseperable. Contiguous. The same thing.

So you think that it is good idea to continue funding what you believe is a mistake?

WOW!

If there is one thing that is to be said about you Democrats, it is that you’re too spineless to put your money where your mouth is. In this specific case, that’s a damn good thing.

You’re dishonest partisan hacks who will say anything to get elected, but at least it goes towards the national security side when the time comes to actually put up or shut up. Thing is though, you weak-kneed liars never do the shutting up part.

Alert me to when you quit selling America down the river for your own political aspirations. Then, and only then, will I consider a vote for a Democrat.

likwid: For me, they would also have to advocate something that is in line with the founding principles of America.
