UK Social Services Want To Take Kid Away From His Mom For Being Too Fat

Yikes…

LONDON (Reuters) - British social workers will meet an eight-year-old boy who weighs almost 200 pounds (91 kg) on Tuesday to decide whether he should be taken away from his mother after she refused to stop feeding him junk food.

Conner McCreaddie’s mother said on Monday her 196-pound son refuses to eat fruits and vegetables, but rejected suggestions she put a lock on the fridge.

Connor and mother Nicola McKeown will appear at a child protection conference organized with their local government authority in northeastern England.

Social workers might take the decision to put him into care against the will of his single mother, who suffers from depression. She has appealed to allow her to keep Connor, dismissing allegations that he has been neglected.

“Taking him away from his family when he needs them to help him would be, I think, disastrous for Connor. I think it would make him worse,” she said.

Next thing you know the Brits will be wanting parents to just turn their kids over to the government at infancy for proper raising and indoctrination.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m more than a little tired of these social workers and nanny-staters trying to save the world and save us from ourselves.  I’m a firm believer in evolution.  I don’t think we should be allowed to harm one another, but if some moron wants to harm himself by eating too much or smoking or using drugs I say let them.  And if some mom doesn’t have enough control over her kid to keep him out of the fridge, so be it.

It’s survival of the fittest, and our species isn’t going to evolve properly if we protect these people from themselves.  The only thing we should be worried about is protecting the taxpayers from having to bear the cost of these people’s decisions.  Something that isn’t done, I’d remind you, by expanding the power, size or scope of government agencies.

Which goes to show that your support for the criminalization of bestiality is absolutely inconsistent with everything else you profess to believe.

Drudge is reporting that the fat kid gets to stay with the scary as hell mother.

I mean the kid looks like Pugsley but heck that lady’s uglier than grandma.

What’s noteworthy here is that the social workers appear to be working outside of the counsel of the doctors who have apparently helped the boy lose a couple of stone already.  It’s also worth noting that the boy doesn’t look that big besides his mother--much like any 8 year old--and I dare suggest that the social workers are missing a lot of other obvious explanations for the boy’s weight, like a big mum & dad.

In other words, sure he’s fat, but leave it to the only group of college graduates dumber than teachers to miss the basic facts of the case.

Why did a Social worker get called in the first place?  Or shall I say who called a Social worker?

He looks like a typical kid from Chicago to me.

Too bad you can’t invest in surgical procedures. I predict a great future in cardiac bypass surgery.

As for his mum, well, he can lose weight but she will always be ugly.

Beauty is skin deep, but ugly goes down to the bone.
