Outrageous: TSA Hassles Campaign For Liberty Organizer In Airport For Carrying Cash Money

Unbelievable. He’s detained for carrying cash, and Campaign for Liberty/Ron Paul bumper stickers.
Remember, he’s detained in Missouri. The same state that sent out an email to law enforcement agencies stating that conservative/libertarian orientated literature or bumper stickers may be indicative of someone being a domestic terrorist.

Every single government official on that recording should be fired. Immediately.

Little buzzy gives the “village idiot” version. How is it “a setup” for him to honestly disclose what he was doing? That is monumentally stupid, even for you, little buzzy.

  • Buzz

This whole thing is obviously a setup by Fox news. It was no accident that he was in Missouri. The kid let the authorizes know he had a large amount of cash on him, to provoke a response from them. TSA was only doing the job they were trained to do. Any cop would think it was from drug sales, why else would you have 5,000 dollars cash on your person. Fox is promoting civil unrest by advocating non-cooperation with law enforcement.

  • Brent

    @ Lank,

The TSA is an abomination. It gives the illusion of security for the masses who want to see government “do something”, but it is actually quite incompetent when it comes down to actually providing security.

Let the airlines be responsible for their own security and privatize the government airports. Then we’d have real airport security.

  • Mickey

    A set up????

hahaha, for what? To prove that these clowns are idiots?
    Well then, it worked!!!

Before these clows became union the only thing they did was watch the passenger gate. Now they wear a uniform and all of a sudden they get attitude.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/realitybasedbob/ realitybasedbob

So this dick head hassled the people who are there as one of our last lines of defense to protect our country…you remember what happened on Sept. 11th, 2001 dontcha?…because his is basically a dick head.

And you and the foxtards are defending him?

    Nutters crack me up.

  • Buzz

A large amount of cash on hand is not a legitimate reason to arrest someone.

You must not watch “Cops” on TV. If a brother has cash on him he is going into the back seat for dealing drugs.

  • Buzz

Ok, let me get my head around this, an organization is going to have its first-ever Campaign for Liberty Regional Conference, which at that rally you are going to sell shit to raise funds. A three day event, that is going to draw thousands of people, and you decide to take all the cash you received from the event and put it IN A BOX to take with you back home. They have made no plans to deposit the money into their bank account? The whole premise behind this is bullshit. There was no misunderstanding, and no accident that it happened. It is a scam and a waist of government resources to try to prove that they are somehow being persecuted for their political beliefs. And a lame one at that.

  • Bat One

    ellinas,

If, as you and Buzz suggest, this was a “Fox setup” then what explains the difference between the way this individual was treated by TSA and the way you were treated in 2007?

  • ellinas

DG! Unusual deposits and withdrawals from ones account are always reported to the authorities.
A Suspicious Activity Report is completed and filed.

And if I am not mistaken, any deposit and/or withdrawal in excess of $10000 is automatically reported to the feds and maybe the state too.

  • DG

How long will it be till I goto the bank and want $4,700 out of MY account to buy a used car and they take me to small room with a bright light to ask me what the money is for?

How about when I sell a car and take $4,700 in to deposit, do I need to take a copy of the bill of sale in to prove it was from selling a car?

How far is this going to go?

  • http://northerngleaner.blogspot.com/ Gene

    I blame Bush

  • ellinas

Bullshit! During my 2007 trip to Greece, I had on my person, and declared to the Customs TSA and Treasury, way more than this person had. No one confronted, hassled or bothered me.
Same thing on the return trip.
Buzz is correct. This is a FOX news setup.

  • NoJelly

In the first 10 seconds the judge says he was at the rally with this kid, maybe you should watch it again. Palzy.

Yes Eb, at a rally with thousands of other people. He was NOT in line at the airport with this kid as you word your post to make it appear.

The lengths you folks will trot in order to believe your own tripe asounds me.

  • ginshun

If it was a set-up intending to show that the TSA is a bunch of dimwits and that they grossly abuse the power they have but don’t deserve, then I would say it was a complete success.

  • 2Hotel9

I’m still waiting for you to explain how it is a crime to carry money. And to prove this was a “set up”.

  • ellinas

    ellinas,

If, as you and Buzz suggest, this was a “Fox setup” then what explains the difference between the way this individual was treated by TSA and the way you were treated in 2007?

Bat One on April 2, 2009 at 07:25 am

He, IMO, did something to attract attention to himself.

  • jimmypop

Any normal person would put your belongings, epically cash, in your on board luggage, or a briefcase.

yes, im going to put non-traceable cash in my bags that are searched by undereducated, overpaid rent-a-cops….. right.

im the only person i know that owns a briefcase.

  • Buzz

This guy was much more calm then I could of ever been. Like Rob, they would of had to tazer me.

He is calm because he is recording what is happening and it is going exactly as planed. Tell me which “phone” you just have to tap any key for it to start recording. Sounds like it would be quite the nuisance if it were not programed to do just that without drawing suspicion to what you were doing. Also, you can’t get through the metal detector with a phone on you, so the guy had to have somehow drawn attention to himself before he was even at the x-ray machine. Any normal person would put your belongings, epically cash, in your on board luggage, or a briefcase. And certainly not in a box, that is obviously out of place in an airport security line that is trained to look for suspicious items, and determine if they or the owner poses a threat or otherwise breaking the law. I hope someone produces video of this to show how he acted to initiate the event.

  • NoJelly

This kid just happened to be with the judge. He just happened to have 5,000 cash on him. He just happened to have a recording device set up to record the whole thing, that he knew from the judge would transpire when he disclosed the amount of cash he was transporting. The judge told him exactly what to say to sound the most suspicious, without crossing the line of unlawfulness.

Holy shit…What story did you listen to? The judge was WHERE? Watch the flippin’ video, Eb.

If this was a setup, it was set up with a phone call from Rahm.

  • jimmypop

the tsa should have never been formed. bush is an idiot for this and so many other ‘small government’ moves.

my wife and i are lucky to travel quite a bit. at least once per year we go to europe for a couple weeks. on just one of our trips, she got the wrong boarding pass given to her at the desk (after showing her passport) and got back in the country showing the wrong boarding pass. if we think we need these retards, id like to copy what poland does at their airports. its all run by the military. profession security people run everything rather than high school flunkies that took a two week course in how to look at drivers licenses.

  • Lank

This sounds like a case of mutual paranoia, and I tend towards the Bush Administration Policies on Travel since we are currently a country at war. Yes, the TSA employees acted improperly, they didnt explain the young man what his rights were and they attempted to coerce and intimidate him into a response without a lawyer present. Would it have been difficult for the young man simply to say, ”It’s my cash that I acquired in my travels or from my business” – or – ”I am uncomfortable answering your questions without my attorney present or without explanation of my rights.” As someone who used to work in drug enforcement I would say that the request to step aside was legitimate, especially since we don’t know how the young man was acting or how the $4,700 was presented. But as an American citizen, there is a basic level of cooperation and respect that should be presented to TSA authorities when you are flying with hundreds of other American citizens who have the right to fly safely. That said, the young man was in error, I thought he sounded somewhat suspicious as well and Missouri is the ”Show Me” state after all. This was a juvenile pissing contest from beginning to end. Shame on both of you.

  • 2Hotel9

Exactly what crime was he committing? Possessing money? Really?

Now, yea, he definitely needed to be run through the wringer for the Luap Nor bumperstickers.

  • Bat One

Before these clows became union the only thing they did was watch the passenger gate. Now they wear a uniform and all of a sudden they get attitude.

The attitude comes with the uniform shirt and the union card.

  • Buzz

Buzz is correct. This is a FOX news setup.

The first thing out of this kids mouth was “do I legally have to tell you that?”. What do you think the response is going to be if you are purposefully acting in a suspicious manor, and when asked simple questions you refuse to answer. The judge is so excited that the scam worked he can hardly hold his piss telling the story. Then he feeds him rehearsed questions to try to explain why he acted like he did. This is shamefull.

  • docdave

I can’t imagine why any of you would defend the TSA maroons who have shown again and again to be insensitive and non-judgemental in a job where intelligent decisions are vital.

As far as a Fox setup, that is an allegation without a grain of truth not worthy of response.

  • Buzz

Holy shit…What story did you listen to? The judge was WHERE?

If you can’t see that this was a setup you are the idiots.

  • ellinas

yes, im going to put non-traceable cash in my bags that are searched by undereducated, overpaid rent-a-cops….. right.
im the only person i know that owns a briefcase.
jimmypop on April 2, 2009 at 02:24 pm

I had my money in my backpack. It was way more than what this guy carried.

That they are undereducated, overpaid rent-a-cops should not matter. They have a job to do. The fact that they picked him out, says they did what they were trained to do.
Whether or not the TSA should exist is another subject.
It was a setup. Get over it.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/author/realitybasedbob/ realitybasedbob

It’s nice to see that Gene is finally coming around.

Your cheese is in the mail Comrade.

  • Mickey

The majority of TSA employees couldn’t get hired to sweep a floor. These clowns simply are not qualified for the responsibility they pretnd to hold.

  • http://www.moszer.net/ Moszer

What is all the crap about it being a “Fox News setup”. This is an example of a government run amok. How can anyone defend the behavior of those idiots? This guy was much more calm then I could of ever been. Like Rob, they would of had to tazer me.

Thankfully they didn’t realize they were being recorded and acted like they normally do (power hungry jerks). Had they known they were being recorded they would of “confiscated his phone for safety” or something along those lines.

The TSA here in Fargo is locally famous for their idiocy and over the top BS. Like going through your keys one at a time, 10 seconds each to see if one is “too sharp” to take on the plane.

You know why the TSA can do this? People HAVE TO put up with it if they want to get on a plane, they have no choice. They think complaining won’t help.

Sorry state of affairs here folks.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

I’m surprised the kid kept his cool. They’d have had to taser me. I was livid just listening to it.

  • http://suitepotato.blogspot.com/ sayanything-4808

At the rate things are going and given the half-assed commitment shown to beefing up and training the TSA by BOTH the previous administration AND the current one, they should be professionals and doing proper security work around the year 3412.

Scrap it, reform it, fix it, do something. This is a prophylactic organization doing zilch for security, and everything to tick off the citizenry depending on it. The citizenry that votes politicians in and out. The citizenry the politicians pander to. The citizenry whose outcry eventually will spark its dismantling under pressure and result in an even worse abomination.

Best idea I can think of is make TSA training proper by paying experienced career cops both uniform and detective in to give proper training on people watching, because if there’s anyone who knows that stuff, it’s the cops who do it all day every day AND they do it in a dynamic ever changing environment. The cops are known to tie a suspect down and prevent his escape with a baggie of coke in a six block neighborhood, but the TSA couldn’t catch a train.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

Right. It’s all a big, right-wing conspiracy Buzz.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

    Fired. Every…single…one.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

As someone who used to work in drug enforcement I would say that the request to step aside was legitimate, especially since we don’t know how the young man was acting or how the $4,700 was presented.

A large amount of cash on hand is not a legitimate reason to arrest someone.
