Tribute to a Fallen Seal

When Medal of Honor recipient Mike Monsoor was laid to rest in San Diego, nearly every Navy Seal on the West Coast showed up to honor him.
Part of their tribute to their fallen comrade is slowly gaining attention.

Mike Monsoor tribute

During the service, as Monsoor’s coffin was taken from the hearse to the gravesite, Navy SEALs lined up in two columns. As the coffin passed, video shows each SEAL slapping down the gold Trident from his uniform and deeply embedding it in Monsoor’s wooden coffin. The slaps were reportedly heard across the cemetery.
The symbolic display moved many, included Bush, who during his speech in April’s Medal of Honor ceremony spoke about the incident.
“The procession went on nearly half an hour,” Bush said. “And when it was all over, the simple wooden coffin had become a gold-plated memorial to a hero who will never be forgotten.”

The account of Monsoor’s heroism has been related here at Say Anything before. This was a tribute to his life.

SEALs are a tight unit.  In some ways they can seem like a slack outfit, wearing what the hell they want to wear, giving non-SEAL occifers and Noncoms grudging military courtesies, if given at all, relaxed grooming standards, etc… but where the rubber meets the road—locating, closing with and eliminating America’s enemies—they are all business.

They are everything the Hollywood / Berkeley crowd are not, serious about defending America.

I’m not surprised that the DNC/MSM have ignored them and their sacrifices.  Even though they are Squids and not Jarheads, I salute these men and the invaluable service they perform for our country.

Hooo-yah!

Not sure if this is a related practice, the gold Navy Jump wings get punched or otherwise dug into the recipients’ chest sans pin-backs, so by the end of the Gold Wing ceremony, the jumper who has now at least 10 jumps to his record (the number necessary to upgrade from the Army airborne Lead Sled insignia) he has blood streaming down his chest, or t-shirt if he happens to be wearing one at the time.

The slamming of the coveted Navy Trident into their fallen comrade’s casket seems to be in accordance with this spirit of blood and honor and a fine way of saying I’ll meet you in Valhalla.

What a touching tribute.

May it be the last time a Seal is toppled this war....

When we look at the “socialist paradise” that is Cuba, we must remember that a sizable share of the misery those people suffer is directly attributable to Che Guevara bringing Castro into power, and giving him many of the policies that have caused so much pain. The real symbol of Che should be the raft, to remind us of all those who have died on rafts in the ocean trying to escape the Cuban nightmare and get to freedom. And had he not been killed, begging for his life like a coward, he would’ve done the same thing again and again in countries all throughout Latin and South America. His actions have inspired terrorists across a continent and caused countless deaths.

Are you sure that isn’t an Abu Graib prison video? Looks kind of gay to me.

Whatever you’re most familiar with I guess!

For any voter trying to choose between the two candidates for commander in chief, there is no better test than this: When American strategy in a critical theater was up for grabs, John McCain proposed a highly unpopular and risky path, which he accurately predicted could lead to success. Barack Obama proposed a popular and politically safe route that would have led to an unnecessary and debilitating American defeat at the hands of al Qaeda.
