Too Much Information

Ugh...

The Pope

Pope Has High Fever From Urinary Infection

VATICAN CITY - Pope John Paul II developed a high fever Thursday because of a urinary tract infection and was being treated with antibiotics at the Vatican, his spokesman said. The latest health setback for the 84-year-old pontiff came one day after he began receiving nutrition through a feeding tube.

"Pope Is Sick" or "Pope Has Fever" would have worked for me. For some reason picturing the Pope's urinary tract gives me the heebie-jeebies.

Update:

Looks like the infection is actually pretty serious.

As someone who worked with geriatric psych patients for many years, I can tell you that UTIs are nasty.  In the elderly, they can actually cause severe behavioral changes--agitation, confusion, etc.

Prayers for the Pope, and may he be spared the Michael Schiavo treatment.
