Tony Snow On Fox News: Perception Of Bias Is Unfair

A great quote from the former White House Press Secretary:

There’s perceived bias on the part of Fox because they don’t treat conservatives as knuckle-dragging morons….I think the rap on Fox having a bias is an unfair one. My sense is rather than grousing with a winning formula, people ought to learn from the.

I’ve been saying this for a while now. Fox News isn’t perceived as having a conservative bias so much because one actually exists, but rather because their overall news coverage comes in to the right of the rest of the media. But when the rest of the media is off in left field, that puts them about center.
At least in my estimation. I find most of their reporting to be even-handed. The only real complaint I have is that they get awfully tabloidy at times. I’m not sure I really need to see a panel of “experts” discussing Britney Spears’ latest problems on Greta van Sustern’s show. But that’s a problem all over the media.
This seems like pretty sage advice from Snow as well:

There are structural problems right now that make it very difficult to cover the White House the way it should be covered….People are trying to keep up with the electronic media. So what happens is you end up thinking, what can I do quickly and what can I do that people are going to watch? ….If you’re doing it in real time, you can get real stupid.

Competition is always a good thing, but sometimes these journalists are all so busy trying to out-scoop one another that their product suffers. Sometimes slow and steady does, in fact, win the race.

I find most of their on-air personalities to be a bit more liberal/left than I really like. Though, I don’t get to see much, just clips online. I refuse to subscribe to a news channel.

Tony is exceptionally intelligent and a fine gentleman! I hope and pray he gets well soon!

I find FOX to often be liberal and often conservative, which places them about mid-stream; or, dare I say it, fair and balanced!
