Tony Snow Interview From Last August

In an interview with David Gregory last August, Tony Snow on his disease, the treatment, his family and “the most fun job he’s ever had”.

Nothing extremely profound, just a half an hour with the inimitable, irrepressible Tony Snow.

I recall an occasion when I got very irritated with Snow’s gentleman qualities on FOX New Sunday, because it seemed he wouldn’t ask tough follow-up questions. I wrote him by Email to let him now I was not pleased with these missed opportunities. Tony replied with an apology, saying he knew he was not as aggressive as many of us would like, he said it was part of his upbringing and he indicated he and Brit Hume would share more of the interviews in the future, because Brit would ask these tougher follow-up questions. His reply was open, honest, and made me feel as if my views on the matter were important to him. I learned later that was one of his fine qualities, making everyong around him feel like their views were important to him, I just happened to be one person of many thousands he made feel that way.

Others have said it, he was a class act!

Yea, he was Bush’s best apologist. No one could try to explain what “the decider” was up to better better than Tony. Its hard to find people who can lie with such a straight face.

You’re here because you know something. What you know, you can’t explain. But you feel it. You felt it your entire life. That there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. Like a splinter in your mind—driving you mad.

Yea, he was Bush’s best apologist

That would only have credence if Tony had not held those same views for many, many years before becoming Bush’ Press Secretary. It was his job to communicate on behalf of the Administration’s policies, which is an honorable job.

Neiman,

Don’t pay Buzz any attention.  As you can clearly see from the Avatar, he’s all plastic props and a large, open mouth.  He has yet too say anything worthy of your comment.

Feel sorry for his family and all, and 53 is way too young to go but….he made a deal with the devil. He chose a life of professional lying and demagogery, culminating in his role as chief obfuscator for the worst administration in US history.

He chose a life of professional lying and demagogery [sic]...

Just,

Any chance that you can actually back up that accusation about Mr. Snow lying?  Something along the lines of an actual quote of his that was subsequently documented to have been a lie?

I didn’t think so.

Dear God in heaven, I thank You that I am not so pathetically small-minded and hate-filled as to be a liberal!

Watch.

About 1:15 into the clip and there’s Tony Snow, professional liar.

RIP, Tony, you were a class act (more than I can say about some that post here).

One of the most important talents for success in politics is the ability to make utter nonsense sound not only plausible but inspiring. Barack Obama has that talent. We will be lucky if we escape the catastrophes into which other countries have been led by leaders with that same charismatic talent.

Agreed dd, and add that he was light years ahead of his predecessor as the WH press spokesman. God only knows why it took so long for the administration to make the change, but his tenure was far too brief.

I don’t agree much with Snow’s style, or the amount of secrecy he aided, but its a sad thing to loose anyone, especially a someone who worked for our country, and at such an age. My grandmother died at 53 from cancer before I was born. Its too young. This morning I was visiting another friend who’s younger than that (40s) and is about to die from cancer.

Just,

As I expectecd, all you’ve cited is an accusation… and by no less an “expert” than the Daily Show’s Jon Stewart, a moderately amusing leftwing comedian.  In the real world, that’s hardly proof of anything.

The “lie” you cited was Tony Snow stating that the eight US Attorneys weren’t fired as partisan political “payback.”  Get back to me when you have some proof that Snow’s statement was a lie.  You might wish to start by looking up the definitions of both “proof” and “lie”.  This link will work.

One of the most tragic things about Tony’s death so young is that his kids (judging by their birth years) were only 15, 12 & 11 years.  He was such a family man I cannot imagine how hard it must have been for him to say Goodbye to them knowing he wouldn’t see them grow to adults.  Since his mother died at 17 he would know what it was like to grow to an adult without one of your parents.  Its so very sad.

Bat,
Merriam-Webster has a cookie counter that disables the ability to use the dictionary service after so much use. Since quite a few people out there don’t know how to toss their cookies, so may I humbly suggest using this instead? There’s no limit on usage as of yet.

In the real world, making a definitive statement then later denying you ever made that statement, is called a “lie”. This one was caught on video tape. I notice you didn’t try to dispute the content of the video, only that it appeared on the Daily Show.

You deny the evidence before your very eyes; that does not alter the fact that Snow was a liar. Why I am not surprised, you being a republican and all?

To lie the person accused has to know beforehand that what they subsequently said was false and knowingly made the statement anyway.

To make a statement, later on find out it was based on false information and correct that statement in face of the new facts is not a lie.

Like BatOne I want objective, documented proof that Snow or even Bush absolutely knew something was not true, but with disregard for the facts asserted it was the truth. Let us take WMD’s, if the mass of intelligence information at home and abroad said that Saddam had WMD’s, his actions seemed to indicate he had them and after the invasion those WMD’s could not be found does not mean anyone lied, they made good faith statements based on solid intelligence and were wrong, they didn’t lie.

So, knowing that, please prove Snow ever knowingly stated something to be true wherein it can be proven he absolutely knew it was not true beforehand.

Are you on drugs again? Why are you threatened that while Snow was at FOX I Emailed him a few times and a few times he responded. It didn’t make us friends, I just complained and he was nice enough to answer.

As to Scarlett, I dumped that skank a long time ago, I have a restraining order against her not to send me any moere sexually explicit Emails. smile

I can’t speak for the lurking Leftards, but historically, when a prominent conservative dies, the nutroots on the Left begin a chorus of “Burn in Hell” comments that is at least mildly embarrassing to so called “progressives”.

I was reading the comments on another website and someone posted the following link: http://thinkprogress.org/2006/04/25/snow-on-bush/

Umm…did he really say any of those quotes?

WHY NOT ZOIDBERG on July 13, 2008 at 01:34 am

Umm…did he really say any of those quotes?

Why not? Bush is sometimes bad with fumbling over his own words, he is bad on spending and with feel-good domestic programs that do not work, he’s too “politically correct”, he is bad on defending himself, and we conservatives weren’t particularly enamored with him in the 2000 elections.

What, exactly, did Tony Snow say that every conservative at this website hasn’t said time and time again?
