Tony Snow Dies Of Cancer At 53

My condolences and prayers to his family and friends. The guy was a class act:

Tony Snow, the former White House press secretary and conservative pundit who bedeviled the press corps and charmed millions as a FOX News television and radio host, died after a long bout with cancer. He was 53.

That’s a damn shame. He handled himself with style.

Out of curiousity I checked a couple of the lefty sites, Kos and Huffington, just to see if there were the usual vitriolic “rot in hell” comments from their kinder and gentler readers about this.

Surprisingly, on Kos anyway, there a few, but not an overwhelming number. Many people had either relatively neutral comments, sending regards to friends and family, while some had kind words for the man. I was, frankly, surprised.

Comments on the Huffington Post were turned off for this story. I wonder why that was?

Anyway, rest in peace, Tony Snow, and God bless.

Indeed he was.  We differed politically, but he was a gentleman.  Prayers to his family.

He took on a tough job and did it with a smile.

Prayers and condolences to his family and friends.  He was a class act, and a gentleman, and his example will be sorely missed.

God Bless!

This is a shock - I had no idea his cancer was that far gone.

Tony Snow improved the debate climate and he will be missed.

Whoa.

53?

53??

That’s too young.

First Russert, now Snow.

53 is too young to leave your family behind.

May God comfort the family and friends of Tony Snow.  He was a good man firmly and unabashedly anchored in his beliefs, both spiritual and political.

The country is poorer because of his absence.

God bless you Tony Snow.  You really were a class act and handled yourself the way only a true gentleman could.  My prayers go out to you and your family.

Companies shouldn’t go to bed with the government because the government has herpes.  You can try your whole life but you’ll never get away from that one night.

I had a few occasions to communicate with him directly by Email before he became Press Secretary and he was indeed a gentleman, very intelligent, he had no malice towards other people and he was an exceptional spokesperson for conservativism.

My prayers are for his family!

This morning, FOX News, with their Wall Street programs going had no time to break in for the story, I caught it on CNN and MSNBC

AP has already taken a cheap shot at Tony.

It was almost daily that he said something so witty and direct that he left me laughing.  It made watching the occasional press briefing enjoyable much the way the early Iraq War conferences with Rummy were.  Sparring with the media and using humor and wit to keep people from just being partisan.

The conservative movement lost a voice that even the most ardent Bush haters kinda liked.  And his family lost a great man.  Prayers go out to his family and friends.  I was heartsick to hear that his cancer had worsened to the extent that it did when he had previously said his resigning was due to financial reasons.

May God Bless him and his family.
