Time To Break Out The Ticker Tape?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Great news: the Coalition Forces in Iraq are on pace to report the lowest monthly casualties since the Iraq War began. This is testament to the success of the surge, and the political and military progress made by the Maliki government. Is this an 'acceptable' level of casualties? There is no such thing. It is unacceptable that the enemy continues to have the ability to inflict injury and death, and we have to work smarter to make sure the bloodshed ends. However, the war, as such is over.

Last December, I said "let's see if the trend actually holds. Six more months of this (just one more Friedman Unit), and I am convinced that the war is over in all but name." Well, that Friedman Unit has come and gone, Basra has been pacified, Mookie al-Sadr is cowering, and tremendous political progress and reconciliation in Iraq has been achieved. Things have gone so well that not even Nancy Pelosi can suspend disbelief any longer.

The Iraq War is over, and we have won a crushing victory. There will continue to be casualties, but the conflict is no longer a 'war' but a terror campaign. To call it a 'war' implies that our enemies are 'warriors', an appellation they do not deserve.

Our domestic enemies will say that “even one death is too many for this War”
The 22 deaths in South Africa are no problem, the 100,000 deaths in Burma are no problem, the millions killed in the name of a social experiment called communism are “just cracked eggs"--anything to defeat a democracy.

How many additional dead Americans was Saddam worth?

How many American deaths in Germany have we had since Hitlers death in 1945?  We dealt with insurgency there up 7 to 10 years after but I still think it was worth it.  (Merry Death day a couple weeks back.)

Granted it could fall to pieces but a couple stable democracies in the middle of the Arab world would be a wonderful thing.  Cracking down on terrorism worldwide, especially in the Middle East, is causing places like Pakistan, Syria and Saudi Arabia to atleast start acknowledging and dealing with the problem.  We’re creating real allies.

The vast majority of the MSM will only grudgingly (if at all) acknowledge the progress in Iraq.  They’re too busy manufacturing stores about a fake recession.

The people of the USA voted in 2004 after considering the question of Iraq.  They will vote again in 2008.  My quest is to expose The Truth so that liberals like the NYT, Walter and NBC, Walter will not be able to fool many people again.

The balance is between 4,000 GIs who have been killed to save millions.
But, what many do not realize is that many GIs are killed every year in training and merely being in garrison.  [url=http://magyartruth.blogspot.com/2006/06/more-killed-in-training.html]I wrote a piece about that about two years ago.

How someone lives and dies is important to people I know.  I realize that there are many in the general population who act like children and think only of themselves (egocentrics).  They are also selfish and worse than that, attempt to stand in the way of others trying to save US from corruption and invasion.

That is great news!

And if only 10 Americans die next month that will be even more fantastic.

Of course I’m not sure the loved ones of those killed, will share your joy.

And how many other have been seriously injured and/or maimed over there?  I never hear much mention of that.

Still you’re right though, that is great news, and time to celebrate.

I think I’ll break out two bottles of champagne.

Tim on May 20, 2008 at 11:33 am

Tim.  Too bad the press does not do an in depth story on each and every person killed from Muslim facists, communists and liberals.  Walter Duranty’s lies covered up seven million Ukranians.  Would 5 people be too many to save 7,000,000?  Your call.

Now that’s a very good question.

It may be, but it depends on what 7 million people you are talking about?  Iraqi’s? or Americans?

If you’re talking about Iraqi’s then no, it’s not worth it.

We are not the moral authority in the world, and if you wish to believe we are, then we should be attacking every other country in the world with a leader that suppresses it’s people, and not stop at Iraq.

Now if you’re talking about saving Americans, than yes it is worth it.

But then the question becomes, do you really believe we are safer now because the US military is in Iraq.

To that question I say no.  We’re not.  In fact I think we live in a more dangerous world.

We have destabilized the region tremendously, removing the single obstacle (Saddam Hussein) to Iran dominating the region. In the long run this will produce even greater destabilization in the middle east, which will eventually filter over to Europe and the US.

Our money would be better spent securing our borders and beefing up our security forces.

Leave the middle east to deal with its own problems.

I meant to say

Our money would be better spent improving our infrastructure, securing our borders and beefing up our intelligence services.

I just got a little ahead of myself

Admittedly an unfair way to look at this but I think Americans live in a safer world now than on September 10, 2001.

RZ, sometime back I looked at numbers and found an average of ~850 service deaths a year under Clinton predominantly training(about average for peace time.) Your data was per 100K, do our numbers jibe?

FlyOnTheWall on May 20, 2008 at 12:30 pm

Tim.  Then are Americans, Bosnians, Kosovans, or any other nationality worth more (or less than Iraqis) and who are you to decide one person’s life is worth more than another?

If you’re talking about Iraqi’s then no, it’s not worth it.

Iraq invaded three countries.  We, with the UN, voted to intervene in Iraq.

In fact I think we live in a more dangerous world.

Your opinion.  I would rather debate on facts, but both of our opinions will be again counted in 2008.

Yes, we are safer.  We have not been attacked since 9/11/01.

Our money would be better spent securing our borders and beefing up our security forces.

No amount of money or brave Americans killed at the Mexican border are worth being put in jail for defending themselves or trying to arrest an invader.

What do you tell the family of a doctor who was killed by an AIDs patient who did not tell his disease beforehand?  What about the policeman killed by the gang member on drugs and pandered to by Al & co?  What about the teacher killed by the drug dealer, the nurse killed by the infected patient, the truck driver killed by the illegal alien driving drunk without a license, or the four innocent school children killed by the illegal alien bus driver, or , or and I could go on and on, but I hope you get the point.

Fly, check my link, sorry it was bad.  Here it is again.

If you’re talking about Iraqi’s then no, it’s not worth it.

It seems rather odd to discuss human life and go into the discussion that brown people living in another continent are somehow intrinsically worth less than a white (or other color) American.

I offer that the value of a single life is the same regardless of color or national origin.  this belief is deeply rooted in the Christian belief structure preached by Christ himself while upon this Earth.  It is only a Liberal or an Atheist that can make an argument that the value of a being is more or less depending simply upon the circumstances of that person’s birth (or non-birth).

That my friend is the eugenics argument that Planned Parenthood’s original founder made when justifying the slaughter of a million babies a year who are predominantly black and Hispanic.  Brown babies and people are worht less than whites.

Is that what you are saying?  That goes contrary to what I believe, but if you say that 7,000,000 Ukranians are worth nothing compared to a few thousand Americans, fair enough.

Justin B. on May 20, 2008 at 12:55 pm

Justin.  I am with you.  I believe that every human being is equally worth saving and can accept Jesus Christ as their savior.  I do know about planned parenthood’s original founder, ACLU’s original founder and the original founders of the Democratic party who were members of the KKK.

On the 7,000,000 Ukranians, at least Walter Duranty should not have been given a journalistic prize for covering up their slaughter. There is a link to Ukraine’s President unveiling the Holodomor monument there.
and here is a similar story on atheists.
