Time Magazine Accuses McCain Of Calling Obama The Anti-Christ

The folks at Time think McCain is calling Obama “an antichrist” in this ad called “The One.”

Is McCain calling Obama “the antichrist?” Of course not.  Instead he’s poking a bit of fun at the cult of personality that has sprung up around Obama.  His followers treat him like a savior.  Oprah herself calls him “the one.”

If that’s not worth of mocking, I don’t know what is.

If anything, I think the folks at Time are reacting more to their own embarrassment at being called out for treating Obama like a messiah than anything else.

Rob lies through his average American teeth again, when attempting to use his averaged American political hack brain.

Only Rob would blame what Conservatives are doing, on Time magazin.

Two months ago, Vanderslice founded a Democratic PAC called the Matthew 25 Network and soon noticed that the negative emails she received from conservative Christians fell into two general categories: abortion, and the assertion that Obama is the Antichrist. The cataloguing of similarities Obama shares with the Antichrist began nearly two years ago. But they picked up steam in February 2008 after he racked up a string of impressive primary victories. A Google search for “Obama” and “Antichrist” turns up more than 700,000 hits, including at least one blog dedicated solely to the topic. A more obscure search for “Obama” and “Nicolae Carpathia” yields a surprising 200,000 references.

It’s not hard to see how some Obama-haters might be tempted to make the comparison. In the Left Behind books, Carpathia is a junior senator who speaks several languages, is beloved by people around the world and fawned over by a press corps that cannot see his evil nature, and rises to absurd prominence after delivering just one major speech. Hmmh. But serious Antichrist theorists don’t stop there. Everything from Obama’s left-handedness to his positive rhetoric to his appearance on the cover of this magazine has been cited as evidence of his true identity. One chain email claims that the Antichrist was prophesied to be “A man in his 40s of MUSLIM descent,” which would indeed sound ominous if not for the fact that the Book of Revelation was written at least 400 years before the birth of Islam.

The speculation reached a fever pitch after Obama’s European trip and the Berlin speech in which he called for global unity. Conservative Christian author Hal Lindsey declared in an essay on World Net Daily, “Obama is correct in saying that the world is ready for someone like him-a messiah-like figure, charismatic and glib...The Bible calls that leader the Antichrist. And it seems apparent that the world is now ready to make his acquaintance.” The conservative website RedState.com now sells mugs and t-shirts that sport a large “O” with horns and the words “The Anti-Christ” underneath.

So in short, Rob and his co-horts spend their time labeling and calling Obama the Massiah, then when CONSERVATIVE Christians start calling him the anti-christ, he blames it on liberals.

What a fucking idiot Rob is.

When Obama presents his message and person in terms that a liberal journalist first called him a ‘Messiah” image, when women faint at his rallies, when he talks in terms of his being able to save the world from poverty and rescue America from its evil image, then the Left has little room to complain when that image begins to stick and takes on a life of its own.

McCain’s staff have taken note of the Messiah Obama image and being aware of how many people follow him to almost the point of personality worship, they have created a very inventive and amusing campaign advertisement and the Left hates their Messiah being exposed to such sacreligious humor.

Your calling Rob a liar on almost a daily basis does not make it the truth.

For any such accusation to have any credibility, you would need objective, documentary evidence that Rob would have to possess evidence that something he was going to say was false, but he said it anyway. A difference of opinion or his expressing his interpretation of events/facts does not constitute a lie.

Before you make this charge again, IMO, I believe you need to make sure what Rob has said clearly meets the definition of a lie, which accusation you can support; or you need, if you are to be taken seriously, to employ more moderate terms to express your disagreement with his points of view.

Accusations and allegations are just that.  Guesses and mostly false until proven.
In this case, a magazine that lost its credibility over thirty years ago is now trying to hold on with false accusations.  All this takes away from any discussion of substance in the upcoming general election.  That, in my opinion is the left’s MO, hysteria, emotions and gossip based upon nothing.  I was glad to see that Edwards at least said that he lied about his affair.  Today.  Maybe Time will report that fact correctly.

Interesting, the original commenter posted a long and interesting argument that, if true, shows us there’s a serious far right movement to prove Obama is the anti-christ.  Given general Republican (and sometimes Democrat) ad tactics, it’s not exactly a stretch to assume the McCain campaign would try to play up to this in a vague enough fashion to where they can’t be specifically called on it.

A litany of people then call him an idiot and reel off a number of mindless partisan slurs, then transition into some BS logic where a presidential candidate who promises change and hope (isn’t that like all of them?) is painting himself as the messiah… apparently one responsible for the “wack” behavior of some of his followers.

And still, not one actual post responding to the original points (which are quite debatable, but interesting).  Seriously, are we waiting for Fox News to provide specific talking points to regurgitate or can anyone think for themselves?

Hannitized, it is pretty clear that you are the one who didn’t read the article.

It’s not easy to make the infamous Willie Horton ad from the 1988 presidential campaign seem benign. But suggesting that Barack Obama is the Antichrist might just do it.

That’s just what some outraged Christian supporters of the Democratic nominee are claiming John McCain’s campaign did in an ad called “The One” that was recently released online.

I don’t know how this could be any clearer. Democrats, according to Time, are accusing McCain of running an ad calling Obama the antichrist.

No ifs, ands or buts.

Rob called them on this ridiculous assertion, and there is no ‘lie’ involved.

Case closed.

When H first arrived here, he was a decent - albeit - liberal debater.

I beg to differ; he started with nonsense, profanity and insults, and hasn’t changed course since.

Are you Hannitized’s mother or his sock puppet? His FIRST POST contained childish insults. He resorted to childish insults his FIRST POST.. Are you incapable or reading and understanding English?

Apparently you’re the one with the learning disability.  I’ll go ahead and drop this to a 7th grade reading level… he’s the only one who had an argument IN ADDITION to childish insults.  Your posts are NOTHING BUT childish insults.  It’s RIDICULOUSLY OBVIOUS the post is in no way sympathetic to Hannitized… merely pointing out that this is an obvious case of pot calling the kettle black when it comes to childish behavior.

Seriously, is there anyone who can discuss this without becoming terrified of having no cut and paste talking points?  It’s important to keep an eye on the radical elements of both parties, not enable them while acting like a retarded child.

The SECOND WORD of his first post, Decider! From start to finish, this troll comes here, spreads lies, hijacks threads and calls people names without provocation. You can defend this foul mouthed, dishonest troll if you like, but I’ve had far too much experience with him to give him the benefit of the doubt!

Because Rob will never admit he is lying or made a mistake.  This is pure hackery.

Here he accuses Rob of the very things he is guilty of! He has never admitted making a mistake on this thread for example, where he said some incredibly stupid things and then just disappeared. Not that I blame him! His position was indefensible from the beginning, he just too dumb to realize it!
He’s a dishonest hack and a liar and his projection would light up a multi-plex!

Maybe if he lied to you and about you and called you names for eight or ten months, you’d tire of him, too!

See any resemblance?  Probably sockpuppets for each other.

Interesting, the original commenter posted a long and interesting argument that, if true, shows us there’s a serious far right movement to prove Obama is the anti-christ.

You mean he cut and pasted part of the magazine article that Rob linked to!

serious far right movement

Oh, puh-leease! Hal Lindsay hasn’t been relevant in Christian circles since the seventies! He authored The Late Great Planet Planet Earth From wiki:

Lindsey originally suggested the possibility that these climactic events might play out in the 1980s, which he interpreted as one generation from the foundation of modern Israel in 1948, a pivotal event in most evangelical (especially conservative evangelical) schools of eschatological thought. Cover art on the Bantam edition boldly suggested that the 1970s were the “era of the Antichrist as foretold by Moses and Jesus,” and called the book “a penetrating look at incredible ancient prophecies involving this generation.”

Perhaps his credentials would impress a Time reporter (or Hannitized) but a “serious far right movement”? I don’t think so!

BTW, Hitler was speculated to be the anti-Christ, along with any number of Popes. I doubt that there’s a serious Biblical scholar anywhere that would speculate that the bumbling boob O’blurry is the anti-Christ.

But, thanks for playing!

Proof: Then there’s the ignorant labeling of anyone who isn’t a Marxist as “far-right”, just like Joe Stalin did after Hitler broke their little alliance.
While a military dictatorship might qualify as “far-right”, and a theocracy might qualify as “far-right”, there are no politically significant groups in this country who support either of those two positions.  However, we do have a lot of far-lefties who want to turn this into a one-Party country with govt confiscation of all business income.  They’re the real menace today.

Only Rob would blame what Conservatives are doing, on Time magazin.

The Article is titled “Time Magazine accuses McCain of calling Obama the antiChrist”. The Time article linked to is “An Antichrist Obama in McCain ad.”

So Time did exactly what Rob said. Where’s the lie? Rob never said TIME called Obama the antiChrist. And McCain is certainly not calling Obama the anti-Christ, so the lie is yours. As usual.

Obama/Biden is not change. It’s more of the same.

Ken,

You are as dishonest as Rob.  You know damned well that the title in the Time magazine article is a QUESTION, not a statement.

The Article is titled “Time Magazine accuses McCain of calling Obama the antiChrist”. The Time article linked to is “An Antichrist Obama in McCain ad.”

You deliberately left off the question mark in your argument as well.

So Time did exactly what Rob said. Where’s the lie?

Not exactly, Time asked a question and then presented data to allow the reader to make their own decision.  Rob intentionally left out the condemning elements that reflect poorly on Christian Conservatives.

Rob does this on just about every single post he creates.  It is so tiring and annoying.  I only attack Rob because he is so damned consistent in his hackery that it comes off as nothing more than bullshit.

I would respect Rob if he could once admit he was wrong or post a half way honest post, but he never will and he always sees things through his political hack blinders.  Rob is a propagandist pure and simple.  I hate that.  Sue me.

Rob never said TIME called Obama the antiChrist.

I never said he did.  Rob lied about the fact that he said Time “accuses” McCain of calling Obama an antichrist, and they didn’t.  THE CONSERVATIVES DID.

I just can’t believe you miss that much Ken.

Decider,

Thanks for noticing the argument and also my childishness.  Your point wouldn’t be as valid if you didn’t recognize both.

I can do what my opponents can’t.  I can admit when I am wrong.  I do name call on occasion and it is childish.  Nobody on the other side is man enough to admit that, or that they do it.

Further, the only reason I do is because when I do try to offer up argument without insults, they just insult me anyway.  This is just the nature of this blog.

Occasionally they can manage a debate with opponents without such childishness, but that is few and far between.

Watch Ken.  He can argue for a time without name-calling, then he breaks down and reduces himself to the level of his peers after a few consecutive arguments.

Where Ken fails is in his blind partisanship. For example he refuses to admit to himself that the TIME magazine article title is a question, not statement.  You have to be either completely dishonest or a liar not to admit that.  If a person still continues to deny that reality, then the only alternative is an unfortunate one.....that they are stupid.

After spending considerable time on this blog, I have two conclusions.  That half the commentors on this site are both dishonest and stupid.

There are (3) talented challengers.  The first is PParets.  He is the only one who can admit an argument and debate reasonable and rationally.  Bat, when he is agreeable can also be, but his enormous ego gets in the way of honest debate and he thinks he is right about everything no matter what.  He rarely concedes a good point, but it can be achieved depending on his mood.  In last place you have a tie between Carrick and Ken.  They both get caught up in their own bullshit and refuse to admit simple facts and logic.  Just test them.

Proof is just a partisan idiot and a Rob worshipper.  He confuses hatred for Robs actions with hatred for what he considers Rob’s success.  It is beyond ridiculous.  You are now getting a healthy dose of his unreasonable debate style and thought process.  He is beyond salvation.

Robert108 makes good arguments with folks on his side, but is incapable of debating opponents of a different political affiliation.  He just can’t do it without purposefully showing lack of reading comprehension skills or out of sheer stubbornness.  He plays games, ignores good arguments and focuses on the low hanging fruit arguments to keep up his desire for attention.

I hope you keep coming around.  This site needs a person who can see right down the middle.  You seem like that type of person.  Keep it up.

I am capable of debate, when a true challenger is present.  It is rare that one shows up at SAB.

I can admit when I am wrong.

Like your W-2 indicates intelligence argument? We’re still waiting nearly a month for that one!

No, Hannitized, what you do is reinvent yourself every now and then. You come as a foul mouthed petulant child and then a couple of days later, you chide someone for being childish. You attack someone unprovoked and then a couple of days later cry because someone is attacking you without a cause.

Talk about games! The biggest game you play here is “Look at me!” Every thread you drop your meconium slime trail into reeks of your ego and your inability to accept the fact that you start arguments without all the facts, or with wooly headed reasoning just to bust somebody’s chops.
