Time Magazine Names Occupy Wall Street Protesters As Their “Person Of The Year”

It would be people of the year though, I guess, and it’s not just the OWS crowd though they’re explicitly named on the cover.

Not named on the council? The tea party protesters. Because they’re the wrong sort of protesters, I guess.

I’d be interested in knowing what criteria Time used to reach this conclusion, at least in terms of elevating the occupiers to this honor. After all, what have the occupiers accomplished outside of lawlessness, vandalism, filthy living conditions at their camps and baiting cops into fights?

I know that the left and the media love the occupiers (to the point where the childish, violent behavior of the occupiers is ignored or whitewashed), but this is ridiculous.

Soros is financing them and him and his cronies own most of the media along with dang near all the Democratic party…Check this out…

      Quote:
      The broader meaning
Of course President Obama supports the OWS revolutionaries (including their affiliates nationwide). They are his shock troops. Investigative reporter Aaron Klein has traced the connection, noting for example that an adviser to the president — Leo Gerard — has called for “more militancy” in Occupy movements nationwide. Gerard serves on several groups funded by left-wing Obama-promoting moneybags George Soros. This line from the top of the government out to the streets follows the pattern advocated by the late Saul Alinsky, a community organizer whose modus operandi influenced Barack Obama.Alinsky advocated organized chaos to bring down the (free market) structure. The methodology, called “Cloward-Piven,” crafted by a couple of radical university professors, has been defined as the strategy of “top down, bottom up, inside out.”In fact, the aging survivor of that professorial duo, Frances Fox Piven, has blessed the Occupy movement, declaring herself “so enthusiastic about the possibilities” for advancing her anti-capitalist agenda by taking the message “to the streets” (effecting policy through free elections apparently being totally foreign to her Marxist mind).

what are you talking about/ occupy is against dems and republicans and that includes obama. They are people of year because of the main stream media made them look bad that is owned by cooperations. YOu been fed lies..this should open your eyes .. not close them more shut .

      • Serin

Occupy is regular people from left and right. That want money out of politics and support no candidate at all cause dems and republican pretend to fight each other  and cover the views of the people only to end up doing nothing but removing the power of the people and giving it to the highest bidder. If what you say is even true at all it is now a peoples movement where the people vote what goals would happen with a high percent decision rate. It needs 90% approval at occupy wall street. If you don’t believe they are against obama.. join us jan 17 to occupy congress.. We need to fight the national authorization bill as well since this bill makes it that any american can be arrested without trial or cause. .What ever bullshit you heard about occupy wall street.. stay focused.. They/we are against this bill. it’s unconstitutional and people that vote it in should be held with high treason for passing it. 93 out of 100 senators passed it. and more than half of congress and obama passed this. Do you want your kids to be in a police state? They want to divide us with lies in main stream media.. please.. seriously.. take notice..

I’d be interested in knowing what criteria Time used to reach this conclusion, at least in terms of elevating the occupiers to this honor.

Here is a little insight into their selection methods: They simply ask themselves which person or persons best help perpetuate the liberal-progressive meme they, as one of the collective group-think members, want to see brought before the reading public. And…..TA DA!

    • Dakotacyr

Liar!  The criteria is ” who most affected events throughout the year, for better or for worse.”  So the protestors in Tunisia, Egypt, Syria, OWS.  You might try thinking for yourself instead of just believing Rob’s lying headlines.  A quick google search and you could have actually found this out for yourself since Rob won’t do one whit of research for the truth and the facts.  He just likes to make things up.

      • Anonymous

If that truly is their criteria then why didn’t they choose Osama bin Laden after 9/11? Because they chose according to their PC group-think meme. Confirming that politics are more important than anything else in their decision.

        • Dakotacyr

I’m sure he was on the list, as many others are.  You just hate it that OWS is included with the Egypt and Tunisia and your poor little tea party was left out.  Boo hoo hoo.

          • Anonymous

You’re right the TEA Party didn’t make it even though they brought about one of the biggest landslide victory in House election history, which is even further proof that Time’s decision making process is about the liberal group think meme rather than any non-partisan criteria.

          • Anonymous

Not named on the council? The tea party protesters. Because they’re the wrong sort of protesters, I guess.

Soros doesn’t own them like he does the Democrats and this new communist reveloution..

    • Dakotacyr

So Let’s apply your thinking to the runner up for 2010…..that would be the Tea Party, Ta daa!

      Epic fail!

  • Spartacus

Being named “Man of the Year” by Time is almost as prestigious as a Nobel Peace Prize.

  • SigFan

There was an article the other day about how the OWS folks have destroyed more than $400K of park property that was funded by Obama’s Porkulus spending binge.  Irony at it’s finest and most maddening.

  • http://realitybasedbob.sayanythingblog.com/ realitybasedbob

Of course our host’s headline is another in a long line of misleading blurts, some would say lies.
This should be big nutter news for a few days.

  • Jamermorrow

I still don’t thin people understand the relevance of the OWS and the Tea Party. The conditions in this country are driving people to protest. When people don’t have jobs they have plenty of time to protest. As the standard of living continues to drop and inflation drives up prices we are going to see these people rioting. Normal people without though of politics will be rioting. We created a dependent class and the government can no longer afford to send the checks. Inflation is the only way to pay. This means higher prices are going to continue. OWS is just the start so kudos to Time for picking them.

  • http://realitybasedbob.sayanythingblog.com/ realitybasedbob

Yeah, Mr. 1970, that’s exactly what they do.
    And people call you stupid….

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_Person_of_the_Year

    • Cherz1967

Stupid?  I followed your little link.  It says Time chooses their “peson” based on their impact during the “year”.  OWS took to the streets in September.  So at best it’s been for four months, and they didn’t influence anything other than whether or not cops got overtime.  Wall Street is still greedy.  Obama is still a tax and spend liberal class warfare clown, and you’re still a raging jackass.  Seems like they failed.

      • Dakotacyr

That does meed the qualification of “during the year”. The qualification wasn’t “all year.”  And it wasn’t just the OWS movement.  Why don’t you actually read the Time article.  Sheesh, there are so many lemings on this site.

        • Cherz1967

I read the article, I also read the link that realitybasedbob posted in his comment.  I was responding to the link, not the article.

So, leming, before you comment on what I’ve said, you should take it in the context that I said it.  Why don’t you go to realitybasedbob’s link and read it then you can come back and comment on my comment on the link.

Regardless of your stupidity.  Wall Street is still greedy.  Obama is still a tax and spend liberal class warfare clown, and you and reality basedbob or now both raging jackasses.  Which seemed to have been my major point.

          Wouldn’t you agree?

          • Dakotacyr

Quite the opposite. I was responding to what you wrote and how the OWS was started in September according to you and you were claiming it didn’t meet the criteria.  I pointed out your error.  OWS occurred “during” the year.

Perhaps you should read for substance, leming. I’d be careful who I’m calling stupid if I were you.  Thank god, I’m not.

      • Hannitized, Proofs obsession

Personally, I wasn’t sure you were capable of clicking and link and deciphering a message from the data, at least you were able to tackle one of the two.

        • Anonymous

So once again your communist litmus test? QWS went global and the Tea Party was only national…Think Nazi facism, communist totalitarianism, and jihad son…Go for broke with your bad global one world agenda self..

          • Hannitized, Proofs obsession

What’s your point?  The Tea Party was a national organization, just as the Nazi Party was.  The Allies who fought the Nazi’s were a global movement against their national ideals.

          • Anonymous

I suppose they forgot to tell you in school, but the Nazis had a global 1000 year riech agenda..The communists had a 1000 year communist global agenda, and Sharia has a 1000 year global dominace agenda….Funny thing about these “agendas”…Jesus has said ” He will reighn on earth with the global government upon His shoulders for 1000 years…Do ya think maybe Lucifer who the lefty Alinsky dedicated your leftist tactics of win at any cost “radicle agenda” to might want to “be like Jesus” and govern the globe for 1000 years?…Deeper than the water you surf, but think about the ruthless cutthroat global dominace agendas the leftist totalitarian one worlders and religous jihad follow and then try and guess where it comes from son…..

          • Hannitized, Proofs obsession

Good morning 7point, you didn’t answer my question, but you did manage to tie the Nazi Party with the conservatives of today who wish to globalize the world with their nationalistic ideas just as the Nazi’s had.

The OWS crowd was just like the Allies who were a global movement of people who opposed this big government and nationalistic ideals that favored only a certain few and cared not for the down trodden.

See, we can do this all day.  Or, we can try our hand at honest and fair debate.  What do you say?

Which OWS did get.   Its not supposed to mean they were heroic, or  virtuous, which they werent.  But I would guess the article will  imply it at every possible opportunity.

    • Dakotacyr

So, the protestors overthrowing dictators in Tunisia, Egypt, and trying in Syria and now working in Russia.  Really????

          • Fighting Czech

Try this again.  When I said the malcontents are in our country,  I meant here in the United States of America.
Egypt and Tunisia have a whole different set of problems.
They demanded democracy.  and may very well have Sharia Law shoved down there throats.    No. the people in the middle east have Real Big problems.   Al we have here is spoiled brats demanding some to take care of them….

          • Dakotacyr

And they will continue to protest as will the 99%. Live with it!

  • Dakotacyr

not the tea party because they peaked in their protests in 2010, not 2011.  And once again, you deliberately mischaracterize with your headline.  Lies, as usual.

Cher, they chose “The Protester” as Person of the Year.
OWS was only one group out of many protest groups included in their list.

(before everybody goes crazy, I don’t really think the OWS has been all that effective this year)

    • JustRuss

I actually agree with you, this has not been the year of the Tea Party, that will be next year (or bust)

      • Hannitized, Proofs obsession

Gignrich is not the candidate of the Tea Party, nor is Romney, the Tea Party failed and if either of the two win in 2010 it will be the moderate, big government conservative who wins, not the Tea Party.

  • Sp

The tea party was protesting for the status quo.  Boring.

Moreover, the original Tea Party was an anti-colonial uprising, not a pro-neo-colonial sit-in of overweight aging people who are protesting financial changes brought about, initially, by a president they supported.

Get bent Port.  No one gives a shit about the Tea Party anymore.

Same game plan and players here and still theses leftist apoligists squeal their dribble…

The so-called leaderless Occupy movement has just been caught red-handed operating what appears to be a nerve center staffed by professional agitators deeply tied to groups funded by billionaire activist George Soros. The groups, most prominent among them being the Tides Center, have been involved with Occupy since the anti-Wall Street movement’s inception. The radical connections have been largely missed by the general public. CNN, the only news media outlet to receive exclusive access to Occupy’s alleged headquarters, did not fully identify the activists found running it. Last week, CNN ran a piece titled “Exclusive: Inside the offices of Occupy Wall Street.” Here’s the rundown on Obama’s ties to “communists, socialists and other anti-American extremists” – all in “The Manchurian President” – Autographed! The article and accompanying video purport to depict “a few dozen Occupy Wall Street organizers” who “show up to work every day at an office building in the heart of Manhattan’s Financial District.” CNN surmised “the office space appears to be the movement’s nerve center,” a notion denied by Occupy leaders interviewed by the news network. Continued the piece: “But the volunteers who plan future actions, network with other Occupy protests and deal with logistical issues insisted the location is not Occupy Wall Street’s headquarters.” The news network maintained it visited Occupy’s nerve center. CNN reported the Occupy office boasts a finance committee that manages expenses and donations; a communications group that disseminates information agreed upon by consensus and a housing group to make sleeping arrangements for protesters.Read more: Occupy’s ‘nerve center’ staffed by Soros activists http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=375565#ixzz1gYEWQ7qz

I love the way Rob panders to the Conservative wing nuts with a sensational headline and then puts the disclaimer out “It would be people of the year though, I guess, and it’s not just the OWS crowd though they’re explicitly named on the cover. ”

As far as the Tea Party goes it should have been on for 2010.
