Maybe it’s the Democratic leadership’s way of draining the swamp: nominate their greasiest members for chairmanships, and when the inevitable public scrutiny and outcry occur, throw their nominee under the bus. It’s positively Rovian in it’s brilliance!

Or maybe they intend “draining the swamp” to be something that just applies to Republicans…naw, that’d be cheap, partisan, and hypocritical.
