The World Is Still Fascinated With Sarah Palin

Interesting…

Three weeks after the Republican ticket suffered a sweeping defeat at the polls, Sarah Palin continues to dominate search engine queries, cable news and online video sites.

The only American politician who generates comparable interest is President-elect Barack Obama. No one else is close.

Palin was the most popular Lycos search from the week she joined the ticket continuously through last Sunday, some two weeks after the election, when she was dethroned by Paris Hilton, the celebutante whom John McCain famously compared to Barack Obama.

The Alaska governor now ranks fourth, just one spot below Obama, on the weekly Lycos 50 list.

“People are still searching for her in record numbers,” said Kathy O’Reilly, a spokeswoman for Lycos. “How bizarre is that? Obama is the president-elect after the most historic election of all time and you’d think he would be dominating search activity and he only now is going ahead of her.”

With all the hype surrounding Obama, all the media coverage of his “historic” election victory, and the much-maligned Palin is still matching him in buzz even after being on the losing ticket.

That says something.  It says Palin has one heck of a political opportunity.  The question is whether or not she can overcome some of the skepticism, and outright hatred, of her.

I wonder where the hatred comes from? Oh yeah, that media.

Sarah Palin represents everything progressives hate:

-She’s happily married to a masculine man who likes to do manly things like fishing, hunting and snow machine racing.

-She knows how to use a firearm to protect herself and hunt for food.

-She’s one of those Christians who actually believe in outmoded concepts like morality.

-She’ prolife and lives according to her beliefs.

-She a Republican.

Any one of those is reason enough for progressives to hate her.

To be honest, I liked her folksy down-to-earthness. My beef was that she did not display a good grasp of the issues. If she starts studying and preparing she could become a lot more viable national candidate. I bet she will become a Senator.

Doesn’t say much for Lycos users now, does it?

I can’t believe people still use Lycos.

pcND on November 29, 2008 at 08:01 pm

realitybasedbob, search results have nothing to do with how many times people search for any particular item.  Lycos is stating that people have searched for Palin more often than anything or anyone else.  In other words, her name is the most popular search…which is why they said it in pretty much those words.

As usual Boobbie you intentionaly missed the point of the article to bring out trivial information. People doing internet searches for Palin shows she is still interested in her and apparently by the reaction of the lefties she scares the hell out of you guys. But anyone with standards always makes you guys squirm a little.

Obama had to run as a conservative in the final weeks of his campaign, and is now promising to govern as a conservative, which explains Sarah’s popularity, since she is a real conservative, while Obama is just lying about it.

Heh heh heh heh…

The day McCain announced her as his running mate the fear started to radiate from the Left like fumes from a corpse. Fear in Democrats is translated as hatred and manifested with a “limbic” response.

It will take more than charm to win over voters in 2012. Granted, Obamas resume was nothing more than Palin’s but in this era, where the average voter could not pass a fourth grade civics test, it takes a full regiment of mind numb clones to carry the masses to the polls. It doesn’t hurt when you have an politically biased press and their fellow democrats twisting the propaganda and covering up the warts as well.

The best thing Palin may have going for her is if Obama leans too far left and the subsequent economic decline that would follow. We haven’t even seen bottom yet with this economy.

Untrue; Sara’s resume is much more impressive than Obama’s.  She has actually accomplished things in govt., unlike Affirmative Action Boy.

Obama displayed poise, confidence, calmness, and brilliance while answering questions. You might not have liked his positions on issues, but you must admit, like Clinton, the man is sharp.

Bullshit!  Without his teleprompter, he was a stuttering fool.
Besides, lying skillfully isn’t really a virtue.

“brilliance”? no, not really. Most of his answers were empty rhetoric. You just liked the sound of his voice and are easily swayed. In all the debates Obama answered questions evasively without commitment.

Actually, I found him vapid, shallow and extremely stupid. Ignoring my personal feelings on some of his positions, his ideas are imbecilic on their face. There’s a reason that he was roundly mocked by all of the Democratic candidates…because he’s a fool.

Optional universal health care? That’s an oxymoron.
An undivided divided Jerusalem?

Or how about the flat out lie that he had ALWAYS been against the war, and had been a consistant opponent of it?

Obama was a stack of lies wrapped up in a neat little package of platitudes, garnished with a stupid bow.

It’s all political bullshit. Liberals (and Robert108) lie and spin and twist and obscure and distract and cheat to protect their guys and hurt the opposing team. It’s like wrestling. They distract the ref while their team mate hits you with a chair. There’s no rule they won’t break, no law they won’t skirt, no crime they won’t forgive as long as they can win.

My beef was that she did not display a good grasp of the issues

You watched too much of the liberal media propaganda and slurs about Governor Sarah Palin. She has a great grasp on the issues - domestic and foreign policy. She is commander in chief of the first line of defense for America in Alaska overseeing the Alaska National Guard 24/7. She has a very high National security clearance as Governor and is briefed frequently about national security issues. Economically, she balanced Alaska’s Budget in two years, cut out over half of ear-marks for her state and is in the process of building a gas pipeline from Canada.

The questions asked by Katie Couric wanting to know what legislative bills McCain had passed over the last 20 years, or about supreme court rulings were just “gotcha” questions, because almost no one would have those answers off the top of their head, especially a Washington outsider…and Charlie Gibson’s gotcha question about the “Bush Doctrine” was also a trick question, since there are four different Bush doctrines that have been floated around since his Presidency and no one knows for sure, including the media, which one can be absolutely quantified as the “Bush Doctrine.”

Katie Couric has been totally discredited because she didn’t even know in her interview with Joe Biden, that FDR wasn’t the president in 1929 and American’s didn’t have TV’s when Biden said FDR spoke to the country on TV about the great depression.

The liberal media spews propaganda and spin and they had to destroy this woman’s credibility because she was too grave of a threat, to ignore. They hated she was a staunch conservative, pro-life and was immensely popular with conservatives, drawing crowds up to 60,000. So they mocked her, ridiculed her and slurred her family, and tried to make her through the antics of Tina Fey (SNL), look like a dumb broad!

But it isn’t so. This is the most articulate and knowledgable woman with great integrity, morals and Christian convictions. She doesn’t just talk the walk, she walks the walk. She has more executive experience than any of the others, including McCain and Obama. She energized the Conservative base to vote for McCain, some of us which would never have considered voting for him before he chose her as VP.
