The World Is Not Enough
Democrat Nancy Pelosi, the grand damme of far left tax and spend liberalism, reportedly sees no reason why her authority to wage war on business in general and the world of finance in particular by raising taxes, should be limited by mere geography. This is the same Nancy Pelosi, you’ll recall, who insisted that her own taxpayer-funded private jet wasn’t nearly large enough (or expensive enough) for her family and official entourage when we was chosen as Speaker two years ago. That same Nancy Pelosi has decided that to help pay for all her liberal foolishness what’s needed is a new tax on financial transactions… all financial transactions… across the globe!
“It would have to be an international rule, not just a U.S. rule,” Pelosi said at a news conference. “We couldn’t do it alone, we’d have to do it as an international initiative.”
“This is just something that is on the table, it hasn’t been developed to a high priority. but it has substantial currency in our caucus,” Pelosi said.
The tax being contemplated by Democrats would be part of yet another “stimulus” package aimed at halting the rise in unemployment, hopefully in time for next year’s congressional elections. Pelosi and her gang of anti-business leftist thugs are hoping no one realizes that a second “stimulus” plan would amount to a tacit admission that the $787 billion Obama “stimulus” program passed so hurriedly earlier this year has been a total bust as far as stimulating job growth and economic recovery.
