The Tyranny Of The Majority Who Pay Little Or Nothing In Federal Taxes

It may come as a shock to populists, but “the rich” have rights too.

As an increasingly sizable majority pays no taxes, the minority’s representation becomes ever more illusory. The minority will be taxed, its property rights will be eroded, and it will have no meaningful say in the matter. A tyrant is a tyrant, whether he’s a king or a block-voting majority of dependents.

To fix this problem, we need to lower the top tax rates and spread out the tax base. Because all Americans need to have a hand in funding the federal government.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the Public Treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits from the Public Treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy always followed by dictatorship.”

I have always had the belief that every person who earns any money from any endeavor–work or investments–should pay something in federal taxes, no matter if it is only a few dollars. It is their reminder that government is not free and it also reminds them that government is there to take money from them. They will have more interest in how their money is spent by the politicians.
Soon we will have well over half of the population that receives free money from the Gov’t.—guess how they will vote in the future.

Halatbis is right, everybody should be paying at least some taxes. That and taxes are now due on the exact same day in November as the federal elections. :)
