The “Rob’s Done With His Taxes” Open Thread

I haven't posted much this weekend, mostly because I had to get my taxes done and filed and also because the weather here in Minot was beautiful and I wanted to spend some time at the park with my girls.

My taxes turned out better than I expected. I was worried that the extra income from blogging would kill me, but I was able to take some deductions to offset it so it worked out ok. After my refund I'll still have paid about $2,700 to the federal government in income and payroll taxes. That's still a lot of money.

A lot more than I need to be paying, for sure.

How'd everybody else do? Anybody bitter-enders out there holding out until the very last minute?

If your income for Blogging is hitting you too hard you could up the pay of the "more-coherant" comment-doers.  That would be a legitimate expense and therefore reduce your exorbitant blogging income.

Rob, you only paid $2,700 in federal income and payroll taxes?

I sure wish I had enough deductions to get my income taxes even close to that

Marc, remember that we’re talking North Dakota income here.  Not quite the same as what you’d expect in other parts of the country.  Plus, I’m young and really don’t make all that much money.

Free, I should mention that the $2700 wasn’t just income taxes.  That was total federal taxes taken out of my paycheck minus my refund.  So include what I paid in SS and Medicaid/Medicare taxes into your figuring.

Don’t forget that Rob figures everything he spends money on is a business expense.

He might not have that much money, but I’m pretty sure he’s loaded, at least some of the time.

Actually, with the amount of time I’ve spent working of late I’ve not had very much time at all to get loaded in one sense of the word, and all that work has not left me loaded enough in another sense.

With two kids, a house, church donations, etc..  The federal government paid me something like $1300 last year.  I claimed exempt on my wages and so not a dollar was witheld and I still got a whopping check from the feds.

The next time someone tells you that the poor, working-class, etc need tax breaks, punch them right in the nose… for me!

And thanks for the money, Rob.  Wealth distribution… great ain’t it?

Rob don’t have chillun, I do!  That’s why the feds think I should have his money.... I’m "poor", "working class", "struggling to make ends meet"...  Rob is "rich"!  Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!
