The Rich Deserve A Tax Cut

Wherever you have liberals talking about how the conservatives run the economy you will hear some variation of the following line:

"They're just cutting taxes for the rich."

They're probably not wrong, but the rich deserve tax cuts. According to IRS records the top 50% of wager earners in this country pay approximately 96% of the taxes. A common knee-jerk reaction to this proclamation is, "Well, they're rich, shouldn't they pay more taxes?" The truth is the 50% of the population we're talking about in this instance are not rich.

The people who are in the top 50% are those who individuals or couples filing jointly who earned $26,000.00 and up. We can break this down even further. The top 5% of wager earners pay 56% of the taxes, the top 10% pay 67% of the taxes, and the top 25% pay 84% of all taxes. The bottom 50%? They a little less then 4% of all income taxes collected.

What a joke. That means that out of every $100.00 collected by the federal government for income taxes, $4.00 is paid by 50% of America and $96.00 is paid by the other half. So when liberals start talking about giving tax cuts to the poor instead of the rich ask them how exactly they plan to make the cuts. How much less can they possibly pay?

What these liberals need to learn is that we need to put the money back into the pockets of those who are making it. By doing that we free them up to go out and spend, which will in turn stimulate the economy. Doesn't that make more sense then taking it from the wage earners and giving it to the poorer folks through social programs?

You can argue that if we go to a more equitable tax system the lower classes will be too burdened and will have to use more assistance, which would mean more taxes. I don't think that would be true, however. I think more jobs would be created by the economy which was stimulated by the influx of spending caused by tax cuts. More jobs means more money for everybody which means they'd be able to stand paying a little more in taxes. I don't think their taxes would go up a lot anyway. The tax system is so unequal that we could spread a lot of the burden around before it would make much of a difference.

Unless you're Ariana Huffington, then you just don't pay your taxes.
