The Redistribution Of Wealth In Practice

It’s not as nice as it sounds according to this email to Robert Bluey:

In a local restaurant my server had on a “Obama 08″ tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference–just imagine the coincidence.
When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need–the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.
I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I’ve decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.
At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more.
I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

Most liberals might say that it’s nice that the homeless guy got the $10. But then, it’s easy to watch other people’s money get spent. When it’s your money being spent, well that’s another matter entirely isn’t it?
Which is probably why conservatives contribute more of their own money to charity than liberals, who instead favor big government programs that use other people’s money for charity.

    Thomas Jefferson once said:
“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies . . . If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] . . . will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered . . . The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.” — Thomas Jefferson — The Debate Over The Recharter Of The Bank Bill, (1809)
Wow, sounds like he may have had a thing or two in common with Mr. Obama …

who instead favor big government programs that use other people’s money for charity.

And for the charity of the state’s choice not the choice of the person/people who earned the money. I may want to give money to xyz charity, or to a friend, or to whomever. But in an Obama op, the engorged state would turn around and give it to Planned Parenthood, Project Who Can Side Against Covertly Padded Malaria Relief, UNICEF or some other life snuffing entity whom I would never support.

    Great example, Rob.

Speaking of wealth re-distribution, as I watched the reports of the 3 & 4 hour lines to early vote, I had to wonder what the employers thought of the loss of productivity.
Granted that many of those didn’t seem to be in much of a hurry to get anywhere, maybe they didn’t actually hold jobs but relied upon government assistance…sorry, I meant government subsistance.

  • Fatalerror94

Yeah, Obama wants to redistribute the wealth, into government coffers rather than to the “less fortunate”.

Obama’s a “Commie“.. A lot of denial follows that around.

    However, when Bluey said;

even though the actual recipient deserved money more.

I’m sure, he didn’t mean to say “Deserved“..
