The Pot Calling the Kettle on Their Bad Taste In Music

Remember Rob’s attempt to track down one of the reader’s addiction to bad music.  Well that’s the pot calling the kettle black.  Turns out we’ve got proof that Rob was listening to Elton John.

Elton John is way more crappier than Barbra Streisand.

You insult my music tastes and you call me fat.

What a jerk.

The war against illegal plunder has been fought since the beginning of the world. But how is… legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime. Then abolish this law without delay … If such a law is not abolished immediately it will spread, multiply and develop into a system.

Frédéric Bastiat, The Law

When did I call you fat?  Is there a reason why you’re so touchy about the issue?

Sorry, I’ll take Captain Fantastic over Babs any day of the week.

Tell you what Ken, you can have them both.

"Elton John is way more crappier than Barbra Streisand.”

Huh?  That’s some sort of inside joke, right?

Chad on March 30, 2007 at 10:27 pm

Yes, it means that getting caught listening to Elton John is more embarrassing than Barbra Streisand.

You won’t here any insults from me. The pool hall I used to go to had a very crappy juke box. The only choices were gangster rap, a few terrible country albums (Toby Kieth, etc.), and Elton John. My roommate and I must have listened to Tiny Dancer a billion times. And for the record, he’s a lot better than Streisand. You’ll find very few that disagree with that statement.

Andrew on March 31, 2007 at 11:39 am

And for the record, he’s a lot better than Streisand.

More feminine, too!

Those who think the party or the country, will be “taught a lesson” by handing the levers of power over to the liberals will learn a lesson, but it will be at the expense of our country and her liberties. And there are no guarantees that the party or the country will come out stronger, more conservative or better positioned to win elections against the incumbent liberals.

I think that any pool hall I’ve been in they would have kicked my ass if I was listening to Eltoni.

Good thing they don’t have any sticks to hit you with.

Not in San Francisco anyway.

No arguement there. But Striesand isn’t exactly a sea of estrogen. But really, this is like arguing about which Lifetime original movie is the worst. At the end of the day, it all sucks.

I think that any pool hall I’ve been in they would have kicked my ass if I was listening to Eltoni.

Well, let’s just say ‘the brothas’ always gave us an odd look when Biggie and Tupac were interrupted by King Flamer.

Good thing they don’t have any sticks to hit you with.

Luckily everyone used Nerf pool sticks.

Not in San Francisco anyway.

You must not have a lot of gays around you. While Elton John may be their king, Streisand is surely their Queen. They really do gobble up all the shit she’s ever made. I know of at least two gay Karaoke bars that have Streisand night every month.

One of the many benefits of living close to a major metropolitan area. Fortunately, you poor country yokels are spared from such knowledge.

You’ve discovered my terrible secret. Just don’t let my fiancee find out. wink

But now that you mention it, if you just put a bit of facial hair on that pic, it almost resembles Rob.

Andrew on March 31, 2007 at 12:29 pm

Its Sir Elton John. He’s knighted. Doesn’t that mean he wears armor and rides around on a horse saving hot chicks? Or is it more in the Monty Python concept of a knight? I.E. a prancing dude who has a another dude standing behind him making alot of noise banging nuts together?

Okay, I gotta make this comment so you guys can kick me around about music some more. Sniff. Whimper. Here goes......

Actually the first four albums that Elton John made were arguably some of the best pop albums ever. Madman Across The Water, Tumbleweed Connection, Honky Chateau, Don’t Shoot Me I’m The Piano Player, and to a lesser extent, Yellow Brick Road were all extroadinary pieces of music.

Bernie Taupin’s lyrics and his music combined on those albums was incredible.

It was after those that he lost his edge and started producing mainstream crap, kiddie pop.

Get any one of those, put it on and actually listen to it. Now. Go ahead. Kick me.

Pil, lash yourself to the mast, this is gonna get rough!

Madman Across the Water is one of my favorite albums. Now, if I had a working turntable I would really be a happy camper. The bubblegum, teenybopper period of the late ‘70s and all of the ‘80s just never hit it with me. And there were several songs from the beginning of his career I never liked, Crocodile Rock leaps immediately to mind.

And to take the pressure off Pil, I am listening to Vivaldi as I type. And cook steaks on the grill. Nothing helps a cold beer go down better than nice string section working their fingers bloody!

Pilgrim I was just pointing out that Rob likes the same stuff you do.  He was just covering up on not like Babs.

And now he’s de-composing??
