The Obama Administration’s Idea Of “Voluntary”: Do It Or We’ll Make You Do It

This would be funny in a cartoonish sort of way if it weren’t so Orwellian:

“Agriculture secretary Tom Vilsack said that the program [country of origin labeling] is voluntary, but could become mandatory if meat processors don’t comply.”

Using this definition, paying taxes is voluntary as well in that we could choose not to do it.  Of course, choosing not to pay your taxes results in fines and federal prison.

On a related subject, I always chuckle when liberals complain about the Medicare prescription drug entitlement Bush signed in to law (one of the biggest failures of his administration) because it doesn’t allow the government to “negotiate” with drug manufacturers for lower prices.  Of course, if the government were allowed to negotiate for lower prescription drug prices I’m sure it would be along the same lines of Sec. Vilsack’s negotiations with meat processors.

Do it, or they’ll make you do it.
