The Obama Administration Would Like You To Report Any Suspicious Dissent

I’m no conspiracy monger, but this statement on the White House website is a little creepy:

There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse..gov.

It’s almost like the White House wants Americans to snitch on one another. Are they building an enemies list or what?
I think I’m going to sign that email up for some spam.

So they can have a chance to speak to it too. Or are you guys too afraid of a real discussion? The kind where the people you’re all attacking are actually allowed to answer back and give their evidence.

Are you serious? I notice you are on a blog that allows you to present whatever evidence you like so answer your own question.

They are not even saying you can’t say what you want their simply asking to be informed of the discussion so they can have a chance to speak to it too.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! This website nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt to stifle discussion. My God man, Obama has the bully pulpit, the ability to give speeches, newspaper coverage, townhall meetings and various other venues to get his “message” out. Congress has the same advantage.

  • you’renotlistening

well that’s not what the document says at all. it says nothing about going after people who see these events and decisions through a different lense. It is acceptable that people would see things differently because we have different values. They are very obviously only concerned with countering the disinformation (see: blatant lies) being passed via viral messages. They are not even saying you can’t say what you want their simply asking to be informed of the discussion so they can have a chance to speak to it too. Or are you guys too afraid of a real discussion? The kind where the people you’re all attacking are actually allowed to answer back and give their evidence.

Of course you have a right to be against this request and of course you’re right that being against it does not mean you are going out spreading disinformation. However, our governing bodies are clearly and politely requesting the help of level-headed patriots who are willing to help dispel rumors so a real, educated discussion can finally take place.

It’s important that you have your free speech, but you are responsible for your speech.

I am glad the White House cares enough not to let irresponsible people disseminate misinformation and/or lies about its programs.

Funny that you don’t care how they define “misinformation or lie”. Hanny, you’ve jumped the shark with this one. How you can even be for this a little I don’t know. I guess acceptance of the Gestapo, Stasi or KGB isn’t that hard to believe now.

  • 2Hotel9

Congress, and Barri, refuse to actually read HR 3200, and the Senate at the urging of Barri has blocked all access to their healthcare nationalization plan, that makes every word they utter, publicly and privately, misinformation. That is why we keep flooding their snitch sites with their own words. Choke them with that bullshit they are spewing.

And as for your contention that ONLY the government has a right to say anything about all of this? Fuck you.

    Just say NO!

  • sayanything-4625

The problem with your thesis “not listening” is that they are defining misinformation as anything that does not conform to there version of events. To be against this plan is not preying on people’s fears or rumor mongering.

Imagine being encouraged to snitch on your neighbors, teachers, friends, and even your family if they said or did something even remotely unpatriotic. If you were a German living under the Nazi regime, these horrific “what ifs” were a reality.

Or in America circa 2009! I imagine there were a few Germans that said, “It’s important that you have your free speech, but you are responsible for your speech.

I am glad the Fuhrur cares enough not to let irresponsible people disseminate misinformation and/or lies about his programs.”

Fixed that for you Herr Goebbels. You clods have forever forfeited the right to complain about free speech. What’s he going to do about it? Come to my house and give me a little pep talk? Why would they want to know about this kind of crap. Hanny do you want me to report your little Think Progress link that added in information, edited information and omitted relevant content in an attempt to make people look like extremists? Somehow, I bet you are OK with that little “memo”. Don’t forget Think Progress is paid for by George Soro’s and he is organizing on the internet. He must be an extremist too!

No one has disseminated more misinformation on this site than: ‘Hannitized’‘Dino’ and ‘Ellinas’ Where the hell do I go to turn them in?

Go to the White House site and turn them in there. That would be a hoot. We’ll get to see if Hanny has the power of his convictions!

Excuse me…but go F yourself!!!! It's beyond creepy, and Obama is turning into a dictator before our eyes.
I thought it was always the liberals droning on and on about just how important freedom of speech is. Now when the very transparent Obama (bullshit) forces the health care bill down our throats in the middle of the night. We're not supposed to say anything. We're supposed to sit with our thumbs up our butts like puppets. F THAT!!!!

  • hauskraut

Big Brother is watching, and what he can’t see, he wants you to tattle.
I’ll keep my freedom of speech, thank you.
If I think this ‘health insurance reform’ is utter bullshit – and I do – then I will say so as many times and to as many people as I want until things change for the better, or until I leave the country. And I don’t plan on leaving my country until I know for damn sure there is no hope.

    Hannitized:

While it is true that each individual is responsible for his own speech, what right does the White House have to dictate what I can and cannot say? Sure, some people will lie just to make their point of view seem better(hmmm, sounds familiar), but many of the dissenting parties know what this ‘reform’ is all about and STILL abhor the very idea. And each and every person has a right to have and express his own opinion.

I agree. I’d love for us to take the challenge and see just what they plan on doing to people speaking the truth.

I am glad the White House cares enough not to let irresponsible people disseminate misinformation and/or lies about its programs.

The problem is it’s not misinformation. So far Obama can’t clarify any thing people have doubts on without wishy washy responses

  • TUNA

In addition to being monumental whiners, Obama, Rahm and the rest of his confederacy of dunces are world class hypocrites. At worst, they are getting a taste of their own cheesey mock protest medicine–at best, their brand of socialism is being recognized for what it is by hard working Americans, who are beginning to band together and derail these nitwits sooner rather than later.

Stop Obama now seems to be the mantra–and it is strinking a vibrant chord. Obama’s response only confirms these people are onto something.

  • http://www.toadpond.com/ SuperToad

Nice platitudes, Han. But it still does nothing about the fact that the O. Administration is wanting to know what serfs are saying negative things about the rulers’ nefarious plot to unconstitutionally (perhaps EXTRA-constitutionally would fit better) put healthcare under gubmint control.

As long as what a citizen says does not constitute a direct threat of harm, the gubmint has no friggin’ business butting in on it, nor asking other citizens to provide information on what is said or who said it (by forwarding emails, the “who” question is already answered). Any citizen that is naive enough to believe that they can trust their gubmint to this extent should be put in a padded room.

Rat on someone, and you will always be a rat.

I pity those who cannot see what is going on. This is two-pronged intelligence gathering effort:
    1. Counterintelligence – Provide The Empty Suit with the facts which the peons have gotten ahold of, so they will know what “official” fabrications to spread.
    2. A target list — at least a “suspicious persons” list — to be used at the whim of … who else? … the gubmint.

It has been two weeks since I last ratted out anyone,
During that time I attended two Tea Parties, one Townhall, and three protests.
I witnessed several thousand people trash-talking your health care plan and I failed to report it.
I also received several e-mails and newsletters, and visted that right-wing whack-job blog SayAnything and I neglected to tell you about it.

My thought is to report the Obama Campaign for saying things that the Obama Administration clearly doesn’t believe. Stuff like “your campaign talked about bipartisanship, time to view bills before votes, time to comment before signing, closing Gitmo, and more. It’s time to shut that group down, because they’re clearly not saying what you actually believe.”

More evidence of soft tyranny and encroaching liberal fascism. The liberal thought police are OK with liberals, as evidenced by the remarks of that idiot hannitized.

What a deplorable ass kissing liberal.

And yes Hanny, I WOULD include you. (See I can hold YOU responsible for YOUR freedom of speech.)

More leftie hypocrisy on display: they squealed loud and long about our monitoring of microwave frequencies to detect calls to terrorists, even going to far as to falsely describe it as “warrantless wiretapping”, but now, in the long standing tradition of lefties, they are doing the actual spying on American citizens that the FISA program didn’t do.

    Everybody loves Chicago style pizza.
Nobody likes Chicago style thug politics.
I think they are trying to instill a fear based on intimidation that the President is actively looking for dissenters.
Obama’s handlers and trainers should teach him how to be a “good boy” in situations such as the health care debate. Now is the time for a good “sit..stay” instead of roaming the political landscape looking for an opposition leg to piss on.

I am glad the White House cares enough not to let irresponsible people disseminate misinformation and/or lies about its programs

    H,

I must say that I was shocked to read this from you..seriously. Flip that around and put George Bush, or whomever you dislike’s name in there. Would you then think that quote was okay?

See, these are the things that come back to bite us. Power will shift, as it ALWAYS does, and then those things you thought were so hunky dory under your guy will seem horrible under another. It is the way it always works, and this could backfire BIG TIME for those that think it is the right thing to do, when the pendulum swings again, and then a WH you don’t like is now telling citizens to report YOU for your free speech.

People are responsible for THEIR speech, not to make it their responsibility to snitch on those who are ALSO exercising THEIR free speech. Free speech is just that…free. Thinking a program is bad policy, or that it WILL do certain things, regardless of what politicians tell you, is NOT being irresponsible, it is the prism that you are looking through, and just because it doesn’t match the White Houses doesn’t mean you report them.

Where is the ACLU??? I was out there with them screaming about the patriot act, but I see them silent about this??? I would NEVER report somebody, NEVER, who is freely speaking on something like the health care bill, particularly since there are many contradictions and very few firm facts.

I would never “report” somebody for speaking freely on a subject, even if I hated their viewpoint.

Freedom of speech is it. In a nutshell, if you have no freedom of speech, you have no republic, you have no democracy, you have nada.

Man, I expected better from you :(

  • http://www.bikebubba.blogspot.com/ Bike Bubba

I warned the Obama administration that CONGRESS is spreading misinformation about the healthcare bill IN THE VERY BILL. (which, contrary to Obama’s claims, does end new contracts for private insurance)

Hopefully he will crack down on Congressman Waxman and Speakress Pelosi!

I also warned Obama that the “Obama Campaign” was spreading disinformation about what the President believes. Hopefully he’ll crack down on the leader of the campaign, too, for spreading such vile disinformation.

  • 2Hotel9

I have been linking their own healthcare links, both from Congressional and White House sources, and news articles about their own healthcare “plans” to flag@whitehouse.gov Load them up, gang, keep sending till they close the site. Then shift over to clogging up House and Senate Member webpages and email. Ram their crap down their electronic throats till they choke.

Did they do that through “Cyber Angles” (sic) or just the little voices in your head?

  • Mizerika

Come on People… He’s not saying that you don’t have freedom of speech.. Just wants people to be accurately informed and not given false information or scare tactics… So that either way you can make a truly informed decision… What’s wrong with that??? Scared of the truth???

  • HG

You mean like obama saying he would like a single payer plan but it isn’t realitstic right now, but mayber 10, 15 years down the road? Or the fact that end of life counseling is in the bill and even democrats are concerned about it? Or the fact that America has the best health care in the world in large part due to the free market in operates in? Or the fact that healthcare will be offered according to the priorities of the collective first, not the individual? Or the fact that government has demonized an industry for the 15% of GDP it accounts for while ignoring the 28.5% of GDP spent by government this year?

  • Bat One

    HG,

    Here… and here.

  • 2Hotel9

Mizerika, no one in Congress is telling the “truth” because they have all publicly REFUSED to read HR 3200, and whenever a citizen who has read it asks them direct questions about specific parts of the Bill the Congress members become angry, belligerent, and begin shouting insults at the citizens.

Now, Mizerika, who is fearful of the “truth”?

  • HG

Thanks Bat. Those are precisely the facts Obama wants us to ignore.

  • JMT

I now hear today that BHO has changed tactics a little…now when you go to the “tip line” it redirects you to make your tips elsewhere (It says “We are now accepting your feedback about health insurance reform via…” but I’m not giving the new addy) WHILE @ the same time they’re telling the public they’ve gotten rid of the “tip line”…well they DID get rid of the ORIGINAL “tip line” but that is BS since it tells you just to do it elsewhere.

The document plainly states that they are only looking for misinformation which I too think can be dangerous. Who wants to protect rumor mongers who prey on people’s worst fears? Sure we have a right to free speech but I’ve always felt that any of our rights shouldn’t extend so far as to serve us while harming others.
