The Media’s Priorities In Covering Iraq Just Plain Suck

Which isn’t exactly news, I guess, but check this out:

Today Shiite strong man Muqtada al-Sadr agreed to another six-month cease fire, which is great news in terms of military and political progress in Iraq.  Also today some terrorists made an impotent attack on the “green zone” in Iraq firing less than 10 rockets or mortars which neither injured nor killed anyone.

Which of these two events do you think the Associated Press chose to highlight with a headline?

Surprise!

That’s right.  An unspecified number of an unspecified sort of explosive weapon were fired in Baghdad at nobody in particular and resulted in little damage and no injuries or deaths, and that was a higher priority story than one of our biggest enemies in the war continuing a cease fire.

We may be winning the real war right now, but our enemies are still winning the media war.

This blog is full of CHICKENHAWK COWARDS!  If you guys really want to win, why not enlist?  You have not enlisted because you are AFRAID.

LLP:  A very large number of those who blog here are active or retired military; a distinguished honor which you, no doubt, will never lay claim to.

Chicken Hawk (Red Tailed Hawk) Hawks are carnivores (meat eaters) who belong to the category of birds known as raptors. The Red-tailed Hawk is the most common member of the buzzard hawk family. The eyesight of a hawk is 8 times as powerful as a human’s. Like all hawks, the Red-tailed Hawk’s talons are its main weapons. The Red-tailed Hawk has hoarse and rasping 2- to3-second scream that is most commonly heard while soaring.

Chicken shit: Small, smelly little turds not even good for fertilizer, you know, just shit!

I’m a chickenhawk.  I support the war, but have never served in the military in any way.

It doesn’t bother me because what’s right is right, regardless of my personal career choices.

I support the war, and the military wouldn’t let me in. I’d love to kill evil Muslims.

Very telling

I’d love to kill evil Muslims.

And at least one US Senator.

The term does not apply to those who have served, or tried to serve but are ineligible.  But if young Republicans are serious about winning, they need to grow a pair and put some skin in this war.  Merely blogging in support of war is not productive toward winning.  College Republicans are COWARDS!

LOL at likwidshoe, a typical fake macho, wannabe toughguy, internet warrior.  You think sitting around in your underwear ranting about killing and war makes you personally brave.  Does your heart swell with vicarious sensations of epic Churchillian toughness as you post about war from behind the safety of your keyboard?

LLP on February 23, 2008 at 09:50 am

LLP - calm down, child. I just stated that I would love to kill evil Muslims. No harm in stating that.

LLP:

blogging in support of war is not productive…

Neither, I would suggest, are your frat-brat speculative rants about the people who blog here.

We have all gotten your point. So, unless you have something substantive to contribute here, why don’t you head back to your Xbox.

College Republicans are COWARDS!

Much like your patron saint, Bill Clinton? Or are you merely projecting again?

A troll is someone who only wants to stir up trouble, not have an honest debate.  Some signs that a poster is a troll:
* Dodges questions from other posters * Refuses to give sources
* When one of its arguments is shown to be false, either ignores the proof or moves the goalposts.  Heh. (From the LGF faq)

LLP: On this issue you are rapidly becoming an odious lout! Get off the Chicken Hawk nonsense, you lost that debate hours ago, now you are just ranting to mask your error. To defend the truth by words, actions, or words and actions is to defend the truth, the truth doesn’t change because of the actions or inactions of others.

The truth is the MSM are leftist propaganda ministers, they want another American defeat so they can relive their glory days when they forced us to run away from Vietnam with our tails between our legs and surrendered the field to the enemy while we were winning the war. In a similar manner the MSM’s priorities in covering Iraq is part and parcel of their anti-America liberal agenda.

A new toll; LLP throws the chickenhawk slur.

This troll no doubt has a DD-214 to show its own bonafides which it will be showing any second now.

You guys are missing the point - you treat your pro war stance as a statement of personal courage.  You call the anti war movement hippie wusses, accuse them of “running away” and appeasing nazi germany, anyone who talks like that is using their opinion as a statement of personal courage, and needs to enlist to earn respect for their opinion.

I actually don’t think my pro-war stance makes me personally courageous at all.

But nice straw man.

Rodney,

I don’t think anyone seriously expected to see one in any case.  ‘Course now you’ll probably have to explain just what a DD-214 is.

LLP,

Two questions:  First, what the hell does Nazi Germany have to do with anything?  Second, if discussions of national defense and military policy should be restricted to those who have actually served, what are YOU doing here?
