The LAPD Police Chief Gets The “Eat Your Own Young” Award

Boy, that didn’t take long.
MacArthur Park. The location of the immigration protest turned violent is interesting because Los Angeles Police Chief William J. Bratton has certainly left his officers out in the rain following their reaction to being attacked there.
Before the dust was even settled he was making statements that his officers had acted inappropriately and with an undue amount of force when they responded to rocks, bottles and frozen plastic bottles of water being hurled at them by members of the crowd. Several officers were injured, at least one being knocked off of his motorcycle. In addition to that, some of the peaceful protesters were carrying clubs. Many were masked.
A large group of men had been shadowing and taunting the officers and after several minutes of that I would imagine that the officer’s nerves were just a bit on the edgy side. So, when they were attacked they responded and some people – and some of them probably were just peaceful protestors – were injured by batons and foam rubber bullets fired by the police.
And now there is a full blown investigation into the officer’s conduct. Well, if in fact there were innocent people hurt, then there should be. I understand that. Police accountability is a crucial factor in a free society.
What I don’t understand is the immediate condemnation of the officers by their own Chief before any formal investigation was even underway, much less complete. He just handed his own people over to the far left on a silver platter. Every left wing politician, presidential candidate, and self aggrandizing moron with an axe to grind will be shrieking for the heads of some of those officers.
They’ll get some, too. The weak kneed, spineless cockroach politicians who represent the city – and bear in mind they are supposed to represent those officers who protect their city as well – will not have the guts to hold up a hand and say, “Wait a minute, folks, let’s look at all the facts before we rush to judgement.” It’s far too late for that. The rushing’s done. And, sadly, some of those officers will be trampled by the politically correct stampede. Sacrifices must be made on the alter of the left and their MSM cronies. There will be careers lost or irrepairably damaged over this.
I therefore award Chief Bratton with the first annual Eat Your Own Young Award based on his absolute and complete abandonment of his officers in those first few hours to the forces of political correctness and his interest in saving his own political hide. Good job, Willie. You couldn’t have hurt the morale of your department any more if you had walked up to each of them individually and kicked them in the crotch.
By the way, while you have your investigators deciding on who you’re going to feed to the media – have them look up the word “leadership” for you.
It looks like you need a refresher in its meaning.
