The Laffer Curve At Work

Countries around the world have been cutting taxes over the last decade or so, and in response tax revenues in those countries have skyrocketed:

With other nations in the world cutting taxes, and thus creating a friendlier economic environment for businesses, one wonders why anyone would think that we need to raise taxes here in America.

In Oregon, when a corporation overpays its tax bill, the amount of the overpayment is returned to that particular corporation. This is called the Corporate Kicker.

Incredibly, lefties are planning to outlaw returning tax overpayments to corporations. You can meet and greet these lefties here: http://www.kickthekicker.com/.

I have often mused that theft is the most sincere form of flattery. I suppose our state’s corporations should find solace in that thought.

No better example than the Irish Miracle/Celtic Tiger.

Making a haven for businesses is a pretty good idea if you actually want jobs. They focused on appeasing businesses already in Ireland (captured), but especially focused on enticing new businesses (Bristol Myer Squibb, Microsoft, Dell, and a host of others) by cutting the corporate tax down to 12.5% (which is about 1/3 of the rest of the EU losers). The French are so pissed that Irelands picked up business they’re complaining it’s an unfair competition....waaaaaaaa. That’s it France, don’t do what Ireland’s doing, just piss and moan that your socialist utopia is circling the drain. Morons.

To the left, this is an aberration to be attacked with BS talking-points, and an appeal to emotions that all business is bad, must be punished, and daddy government can make it all better. To anyone that knows one little tiny thing about economics we know it’s following the key rule of econ: Incentive. And now that Ireland has the businesses to keep their educated folks it will only get better and better.

“my island, yup”
