The Katrina Video Was Selectively Edited

In addition to the Associated Press misleading everyone about Bush being warned about the levees (topped does not equal breached, my friends) it also appears as though they misled the public by selectively editing the video they’re using to back up their attack on Bush.
From the LA Times (not exactly a bastion of pro-Bush sympathies):

The selectively edited video of the Aug. 28 briefing shows Brown at one end of a crowded conference table dotted with microphones, telling federal and state officials: “My gut tells me this is a bad one and a big one — this is, to put it mildly, the big one, I think.”
[...]
The AP video does not include footage of Chertoff asking Brown whether he needs any other help or of Chertoff asking whether Brown wants him to approach the Department of Defense. Transcripts show that to both questions, Brown indicated that no additional assistance was needed.

So, to sum up, the Associated Press obtained all this raw footage but selectively editied it only to show scenes it could use against Bush.
That’s not journalism.

Re: Nagin.  Not to mention failing to provision the Superdome and the Convention Center with food and water sufficient for a few days, at least.  Bonehead play.

When you fall to a semantics filled defense of Bush’s actions Rob, ‘selectively edited video’ is not that far behind, I see.

    WOOF? Is that you?

So, Rick, am I still paranoid?  Things keep adding up about the MSM.  Read the one about the NYT correcting itself on it’s misleading ports story?  How much does it take?

I imagine we could get into semantics.  But then I would ask why the AP did not show the video of Governor Blanco saying that she did not believe they had a levee breach?  If she was there and did not know how was DC supposed to know any differently when they were getting their information from her?

Do you suppose that while everyone was warning Bush that the levees could be topped that he was relieved when Blanco told him the levees had not been breached (when in fact they had) only to find out that there was a problem?

The politicians can make a big deal out of this but the fact is nothing could have prevented the damage.  We have not figured out how to stop a hurricane.  If Nagin had used the buses and people would have left (some refused to leave) there would have been less loss of life.  There were problems at all levels but the major problems started at the local and state level.  They were simply inept.

I have been trying to get people to tell me what the government could have done to minimize and no one can.  They sure can criticize though.

Davey: No, TCF is not Woof.

TCF, words mean things.  Topped levees is not the same as breeched levees.

And you’re telling me that it doesn’t bother you a bit that the AP is only releasing this selectively edited video without make the source material available to the public?
