The “It’s Rob’s Birthday” Open Thread

Proof  •  June 3, 2009

Today’s my birthday. Time to reflect on arriving at the last year of my 20′s (I’m 29 today), and how I’ve changed from being a fun-loving party animal at the beginning of this decade of my life to someone who derives a great deal of satisfaction writing sarcastic posts about tax policy on Friday nights while everyone else is out on the town.
I guess I’m all grown up. Or something.
Anyway, because it’s my birthday, I probably won’t be blogging much. I’ll be spending the day relaxing with my little family, so feel free to talk among yourselves. Check out the reader blogs. Get a reader blog for yourself if you don’t already have one. Check out the forums.

    Have a Day Rob. I didn’t realize you were so young. I joined the USN when I was 28 and was in the Persian Gulf onboard 5th Fleet’s Flagship USS Coronado (AGF-11) when I was 29 as Electronic Warfare Tech 3rd Class. My education was just beginning.

    Go down to your local USN recruiter and see what he has for a guy with your media skills. Do 4 years, see much, hear much, learn much…and When you get out you’ll have many tangible benefits but it the intangibles that will last you a lifetime.

    Call it a career move that takes a huge step towards what all media folk will need going forward: gravitas

    It’s the best birthday wish I could offer you :)
