The Face Of The Alito Hearings

Many are saying that her tears have nothing to do with Democrat questioning. I would ask these people about their ability to discern reality. Yes, she broke down while Republican Lindsey Graham was apologizing for the actions of Democrats on the panel. Does that mean that it was Republican questioning that made her cry?
Hardly. Democrats have been doing their best to paint Alito as an uncaring, racist, sexist right-wing troglodyte since before these hearings began. Democrats and their apologists in the media are denying that any of this is a big deal, which is typical. These same people don't think that Howard Dean telling America that we're losing in Iraq is a big deal. The same people, in fact, who think that John Murtha's anti-military rhetoric isn't a big deal.
What these people need to learn is that words mean things. If a major political figure here in the U.S. is going to pop-off about the U.S. losing the war that's going to have some consequences. The same thing goes for rampaging Senators at judiciary hearings leveling charges of racism and other nasty things. Especially when they just aren't true.
I realize the importance of making sure that nominees for the Supreme Court are thoroughly vetted and questioned before sitting on the high court, but that doesn't mean we have to drag the nominee through the mud either.
