The Democrats And Their Wacko Base Problem

That image, coupled with John Kerry’s inability to put a 9/11 conspiracy nut in his place out of fear of alienating a good chunk of his political base, shows just how bad things have gotten for the Democrats.
But they’ve done it to themselves. They’ve embraced the kooks who don’t just disagree with the President’s policies but actually claim that the man is evil, and now they’re going to have deal with what comes of that association.
The Dems are going to be hurt if they allow this sort of thing to continue. They could save themselves if they had the courage to call these people out as kooks and imbeciles, but something tells me that sort of bravery isn’t going to be manifesting itself on the left any time soon. Not with people like Pelosi and Dean in charge who think their party is going to ride these fringe lunatics to political victory in 2008.
