The Common Sense Movement Targets Kent Conrad

This ad from Common Sense Issues mocking Kent Conrad’s “VIP loan” for a beach house in Delaware is running across North Dakota right now:

Good stuff. The North Dakota accents are priceless.
It’s worth noting that Kent Conrad didn’t get nearly enough flak for his involvement with sweetheart loans from Countrywide Home Loans. Senator Chris Dodd, the other Senator who accepted favors from Countrywide CEO Angelo Mozillo in return for pushing mortgage industry bailouts through the Senate, went through weeks and weeks of criticism and scrutiny from the media in his home state of Connecticut.
Here in North Dakota? Conrad’s beach house and sweetheart loan was big news for about a week and a half, and then the state media buried the story.

I’m kind of offended by that accent. With the exception of a few North Dakota communities (Hatton, Northwood, etc.) that accent is owned by Minnesota. Up in the North-Central part of the state we don’t speak like that. We have an entirely different thing going on. Damned Coen Brothers! They shouldn’t have named the movie Fargo – it was in Fargo for 32 seconds!

Big deal, lets not be so melodramtic, there are a lot of people from North Daktoa that I have run into that talk like that. I thin it is funny…
