“The Back Up”

One for each side of the bed!

"The Back Up is not intended for use in homes with children.”
Because homes with children have special protector powers that stops bad guys in their tracks.
I like it!
For any voter trying to choose between the two candidates for commander in chief, there is no better test than this: When American strategy in a critical theater was up for grabs, John McCain proposed a highly unpopular and risky path, which he accurately predicted could lead to success. Barack Obama proposed a popular and politically safe route that would have led to an unnecessary and debilitating American defeat at the hands of al Qaeda.

Toddler accessible.
I sleep with a loaded Walther P-1 under my pillow. Before I had that I slept with a loaded Webley .38 revolver under my pillow. My only question is, is this rack sturdy enough to hold my Garand?

Woof, unless the shotguns are stowed with the shell in the firing chamber, they are not toddler accessible. Toddlers simply lack the size & strength to work the pump or even lift and point the weapon, and that’s one reason why pump action shotguns are such a great home defense weapon.
(others; you don’t have to aim it as much, and the pellets are more likely to be slowed/stopped by your sheetrock instead of going on to visit your neighbors like a bullet can)
Go to your local skeet/trap range if you doubt this, and the shotgun salesman will be happy to illustrate this fact.
Personally, I like the idea if a self defense sword--the burglar would hear the “shiinggg” of it being pulled from the sheath, followed by “here comes the mohel”....at least it would work in Gotham. :^)
But the shotgun rack is cool, too.
BB,
In my opinion, the two best home defense weapons are a large dog, and a 12 gauge pump. I doubt that there is anyone over the age of 15 that wouldn’t recognize the sound of a pump action shotgun or understand what that sound means.
“Poverty of goods is easily cured; poverty of the mind is irreparable.”
That’s why you need to get one of those gun racks, Anna.
My hunch is that the dog will be sufficient, though. After “woof,” you’d find an open front door and a wet floor because the perp peed his pants when he heard that hound.
(well said, 2H9...I’ve got both as well, though it would still be cool to get a sword or two...)
BB: A sword in the home is 43 more times likely to be used against a family member than an unlawful intruder.
See I can make up stuff just like that Kellerman guy.
On a serious note I keep a gun locked up in a steel box in the bedroom. Considering the kids in the house I think that’s right for me. I’m counting on the dogs to give me time to get to the gun.
What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity? I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.
… so much for best defense, huh?
Anna,
Not at all. I’d bet my life that your dog would defend you to the death, large or small.
BB,
Right sentiment, wrong handle.
I too like swords. Especially Japanese Katana. I’ve had only a few lessons so far, and I’ve thought seriously about starting a collection. My wife, of course, despises the idea.

Anna,
Looks like a great choice. A cross between a black lab and Jabba the Hut.

Yah, I guess “bubba” isn’t the Yiddishest of names, is it? But for the purpose of terrifying a burglar, a goy can pretend, can’t he?
I’m 100% for gun ownership but where do you guys live that you need a loaded gun mounted on your bed? I keep all my weapons in a gun safe. I guess if I get robbed my guns will be protected. hehe
Honestly, the liability of some kid getting their hands on a loaded gun scares me more than the prospect of an invader in the night.
I’ll stick with the two large dogs and the baseball bat.
You see? This is the problem right here. Your children have not been properly raised. You lock away their only means of self defense. Then you screech about law enforcement not protecting them from criminals. It is not law enforcement’s job to protect them. It is THEIR job to protect THEMSELVES.
There is a loaded, cocked$locked firearm in each room of our house. Boy, 12 years old, has been trained to handle and fire all of them, and can gain access to all of them.
We are seriously off the rails, this thread is a clear indication of that.
