Talked to Mom the morning after a tornado went through Magee, MS. last week. Had to cut it short, she was in the middle of calling her fellow employees and getting together to go over there and help out.

We're trying! A big problem is that our challengers here never get any love from the national GOP. The state Dems get a pile of money from out of state. Something like 85% comes from out of state. The NDGOP gets like 85% of its money from in-state sources.
Obviously, ND fund raising isn't nearly as prolific as big-money liberal giving. So our challengers get drowned out every year.
If we had some national help, or a law limiting contributions to potential constituents only (I prefer the latter) we could win some elections here.
