The 2006 Weblog Awards Are Here
Well, I guess it’s that time of year again. Time for the 2006 Weblog Awards.
If you’re not sure what those are, it’s basically like the Academy Awards or the Oscars, except with blogs and without the intensive media coverage and drunken starlets letting their tops fall off on the red carpet. Unfortunately.
Anyway, the way it works is this: First nominations are accepted in 46 different categories. Then the people running the awards pick 10 finalists in each category. Finally, everyone votes on those finalists.
You can make your nominations here. If you’re thinking about nominating this blog, here are the applicable categories:
- Best Conservative Blog (last year SA was a finalist in this one)
- Best Online Community (I suppose this one applies given the reader blogs)
- Best Blog (I don’t think SA has a snowball’s chance in hell in this category, but if you want to put it in go ahead)
- Best of the Top 251 - 500 Blogs
That last is based on the rankings in the Blogosphere Ecosystem where Say Anything ranks 285th among all blogs on the internet.
As I mentioned before, last year SA made it to the finalist spot in the Best Conservative Blog category. We finished next to last, but we weren’t that far behind really great blogs like The Jawa Report, Right Wing News and Right Wing Nuthouse so I was fairly proud. It’d be nice to be a finalist again in a category this year.
The rules say that blog owners can nominate themselves, but I never do that. That won’t stop me from encouraging you folks from nominating SA.
So, what are you waiting for?
