The Road to Recovery

We want a system that will improve consistency and steadiness in the quality of government.” – Ferdinand Mount

This morning, as I passed through the break room, some actor was prattling some mindless babble about the wisdom of the BO. But, for an instant, there was a glimmer of hope when he said something to the effect of “Businessmen have told me that what the economy needs is consistency”. Alas, the moment was lost when he then tried to cite where our Government has been consistent.

A lack of consistency in life leads to all sorts of bad outcomes. Inconsistency is largely the reason for traffic accidents. Children develop better in a consistent environment. We work better for consistent bosses.

The Founders talked about consistency of character in the Federalist Papers and the overtones of consistency overflow from the original Constitution. The rule of law was supposed to apply equally to all people. This is why the statues of law are blindfolded. Laws should not apply differently to people for any reason, and if they can’t be applied equally or consistently, they should be unconstitutional and stricken.

BO and his band of merry marauders are actively inconsistent, saying one thing while enacting legislation to the contrary. To be fair, politicians in general sway too and fro with the crowd they are speaking with. They all do it, but what’s the effect? Does saying one thing while doing something else gain you favor with your friends and family?

When a business person tries to plan for the coming quarter, year, or decade, they have to plan through all sorts of unknowns. What is the competition doing this year? How are supplies going to be effected by XYZ? Will advertising during the Super Bowl be worth the expense? Add to this short list not knowing what the Government is going to do next.

BO is still sitting on issuing Gulf drilling licenses even though he is court ordered to authorize the permits. Meanwhile the laws of Congress expressly require the Executive to stop the influx of illegal aliens, where is the action? (I guess this might not be an example of inconsistency on second thought)

Eric Holder happily prosecutes some guy who makes silver rounds, but lets gang members who intimidate voters go.

You want to start businesses hiring again? Call your Rep and tell them you demand consistency of principles and character. HA!
