The Kids Are Alright

Help-Wanted
Written By:

Slow posting today as I travel back to North Dakota from Montana where I had a great time talking to fired-up conservatives about the subtle art of blogging, but I wanted to share this story with you.

Sometimes I get a little disheartened, as a conservative, about the way things are going in our country.  Run-away debt, almost unpayable obligations to entitlement programs and an electorate that is increasingly dependent on said entitlements can make the situation seem hopeless, but this lifted my spirits.

On the way home from church today my wife and daughters passed a gentleman sitting near a stop sign holding a sign reading “Need Help” and panhandling for money.  My eleven-year-old daughter elbowed my wife as they drove by and said, “Look, he’s sitting right next to a “Help Wanted” sign.

She makes daddy proud.

Maybe, just maybe, the kids are going to be alright.
