The Fargo Forum Isn’t Done Milking Their Gay Marriage Controversy Yet

Fargo Forum's Ivory Tower
Written By:

A couple of days ago I wrote that the controversy over whether or not the Fargo Forum prints gay marriage announcements was little more than a publicity stunt. I got some nasty emails in response to that post, saying that I was way off base, but as evidence of my position get a load of this Forum article announcing that they’re going to be making an announcement in a couple of days about their gay marriage policy.

Apparently editor Matt Von Pinnon will announce their announcement on Sunday in his column. Because they can’t just, you know, change the policy. They have to make a big to-do about it to. Gotta sell copy, after all.

It’s really sort of sad. I hope they change their wrong-headed policy and start publishing the announcements, but they way they’ve gone about handling the situation is nothing short of atrocious and insensitive.

Some things shouldn’t be used for marketing.
