The DirecTV Commercial About Obama

keith-judd

DirectTV has a series of funny commercials tracing out a string of odd consequences that emanate from getting frustrated with your cable provider and that lead, ultimately, to an unfortunate end.  This one is titled “Don’t End Up In a Roadside Ditch.”  (Here’s another good one titled “Don’t Have a Grandson With a Dog Collar.”)

I can think one that relates to politics that is very much in keeping with this theme except that it’s not fake, it’s real. It goes something like this:

“When You Swallow Decades Of Global Warming Bulls**t, You Want to Destroy the Coal Industry.”

“When You Want to Destroy the Coal Industry, You Run for President In Order to Destroy the Coal Industry

“When You Run for President In Order to Destroy the Coal Industry, the Compliant Media Covers Up Your Lies About An ‘All of the Above’ Energy Policy.”

“When the Compliant Media Covers Up Your Lies About An ‘All of the Above’ Energy Policy, Enterprising Bloggers Expose Your Bulls**t For What It Is.”

“When Enterprising Bloggers Expose Your Bulls**t for What It Is, No One Believes Your Bulls**t Anymore.”

“When No One Believes Your Bulls**t Anymore, You Quit Lying About Your Energy Policy.”

When You Quit Lying About Your Energy Policy, It Becomes Obvious You Want to Destroy the Coal Industry.”

“When It’s Obvious You Want to Destroy the Coal Industry, You Almost Lose an Election to a Prison Inmate.”

“Don’t Almost Lose an Election to a Prison Inmate….”

    not bad…

now come the Obama appologists clarifying that the guy didn’t “almost win.” It was a 60-40 landslide…. Congratulations, Mr.President.

The Direct TV commercials are hilarious and I think effective because their humor ends up with a message that extends logic to obvious conclusions. The parody is well done.

The DirecTV commercials are hilarious and this was a great parody, but my favorite are the NFl Sunday ticket commercials. Not the ones with Deon Sanders, but the ones from a year before.

You’re right on, that was a great ad.  I often wonder whether the stupid beer commercials are put together by the sons in laws of NFL owners.  Also, I think they’re selling “coldness”, rather than beer, “get up from that seat and get another, your’s is getting warm”.

There’s another way minorities are subsidized, the advertised beer is heavily slanted towards white purchasers. You don’t see them advertising Colt45s do you?
