Thanks Obamacare: Blue Cross Blue Shield Laying Off 120 Workers In North Dakota
Interesting…
FARGO – Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota today notified 63 employees they will be laid off.
In a statement, the Blues said six employees were done today, with official end dates of Dec. 6. They received severance pay.
The remaining 57 employees have staggered end dates through next May. They also will receive severance pay.
The 2011 budget will reduce 120 positions, 57 that were eliminated through attrition and reorganization, and the 63 whose terminations were announced today.
The article insinuates that this is the result of pressure from consumers on BCBS to cut costs, but is it really? Back in April we heard from a BCBS executive who said that, thanks to the Obamacare legislation, the company would be cutting the number of their insurance products from 50 to 4.
It’s only logical that cuts in staffing would follow.
Remember, the goal of Obamacare wasn’t reform of private sector health insurance. The goal of Obamacare was killing off private sector health insurance.
