This is the exact type of ignorance that the Clinton 'assault rifle' ban preyed upon. Anyone who knew anything about these realized that not only was it unreasonable, it also practically zero effect other that causing a few modifications to be made to civilian variants. The AR-15 is the only rifle that my wife will use for deer hunting due to it's light carry weight, ease of use, and very low recoil (I'm still on the fence on whether a .223 is too small for midwest deer, ours are a lot bigger than the dog-sized ones in Florida). A lot of cityfolk think that "assault" weapons are significantly higher powered than hunting rifles, which is almost never the case.
