Tension Mounts On Left After Jon Stewart Cracks Obama/Osama Joke

Thankfully, Patton Oswalt is on the scene to calm Olbermann down.  See, Stewart is a liberal, so it’s ok to crack jokes like that.

Of course, Rush Limbaugh better not get any ideas lest he invoke the wrath of Keith Olbermann and one of his “special comments.”

This is like watching wrestling as a kid, when the bad-guy tag team would have some sort of contrived falling out in the middle of the match and end up swinging at each other. Every kid watching felt the same panic as the natural order of things was momentarily upended: Who do I root for? Stewart, who dared to make the Obama/Osama joke that must never be made? Or Olbermann, who dared to call him on it? Luckily Patton Oswalt is there to jump in the ring and explain to KO that no, Stewart isn’t really suggesting a moral equivalence between Obama and terrorist masterminds, whereupon a relieved Olby downshifts into a lament about SNL using a white actor to play Obama.

I think it’s going to be hard to do political humor about Obama this campaign season given his status as a member of one of the left’s victim classes.  Though how an affluent, well-educated US Senator can be a victim simply because of the color of his skin is beyond me.

Yeah, comedians can play a politician without someone pointing out gender.  Oh wait, Kieth pointed it out didn’t he?  Oh well, I’m sure he’ll get it wrong next time.


A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.

I have been saying for the last 3 months that Republicans and conservatives were making a huge mistake in bashing Hillary and constantly criticizing her, while staying silent on Obama. The GOP supporters are so blinded by not wanting a Clinton back in the White House, they’ve lost track of how beatable Hillary actually is and how impossible an Obama candidacy will be to defeat because no other candidate dare criticize him on the merits of his candidacy without immediately being called a racist or worse.

My Grandmother called it “cutting off your nose to spite your face,” and that is exactly what Republicans have done.

Newsflash: Stewart’s joke was about you and all of the other nimrods who keep saying Obama’s middle name, like it’s going to scare anybody other than the neanderthals who frequent this blog!

Guys, come on already.  I hate the idiot liberals as much as the next guy, but that was a decent joke and it compared the fact that Obama’s name rhymes with Osama to the fact that Titler and Hitler rhyme - that’s all.  He never compared Obama to Hussein, Bin Laden, OR Hitler.
