Teenager Sends 300,000 Text Messages In A Month

Unbelievable.

SACRAMENTO, Calif.—A Sacramento County teenager is bragging about a big accomplishment.

She logged more than 300,000 text messages in one month.

“My friends said, ‘Text your little thumbs off’,” Crystal Wiski said.

“Thank God for free texting,” added her mother, Jacki Wiski.

Jacki Wiski said she just bought the iPhone for her daughter a month ago.

“I get cramps,” Crystal Wiski said of her habit.

Needless to say, it didn’t take long for her to get used to it.

Her mother is amazed by the number of texts.

“Oh my God, that’s unbelievable,” Jacki Wiski said. “She must text while she’s sleeping.”

When I say “unbelievable” I mean it.  I don’t believe it.

A 30-day month has 720 hours.  720 hours has 43,200 minuets.  Which has 2,592,000 seconds.  Divide that by 300,000 text messages and you get one text message every 8.64 seconds.  That’s the pace she’d have to maintain 24 hours a day, seven days a week for a month.

If we assume she sleeps at least 8 hours a day (and most teenagers sleep more, no?) we’re at a text message every 5.76 seconds every waking hour for 30 straight days.

I just don’t think that’s possible.  Either she’s receiving a whole lot more texts than she’s sending, or this story is bogus.
