Ted Nugent Launches Into Foul-Mouthed Tirade Against Democrat Candidates While Brandishing Guns

People have been sending me links to this video all day.  There’s strong language used, just so that you’re warned.

Personally, I don’t condone this sort of thing.  If he were just cursing at them and such it’d be sort of funny, but the gun play involved really turns me off.  I’m very, very pro guns, but talking about sticking your guns in the faces of politicians you don’t like is not only juvenile but smacks of politics of the politics of fear and aggression.

Uncle Teddly is an intelligent man. Sometimes his mouth doesn’t get the memo. This kind of stuff does not help us pro gun people. That said, i’ve heard enough venom spewed by other musicians that’s as bad or worse but they usually don’t have the props.

Mom told me that listening to Rock music makes you crazy.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

I don’t know. The places he is talking about and the people he are referring to need to be told to suck on the end of a gun. None of them respect gun rights. They end up endangering our lives by tipping the balance of power to the criminals. To that I say: suck on this gun ya 2nd Amendment trampling piece of shit!

I was going through my various artists folder today and listened to Linda Ronstadt’s Different Drum.

It got me thinking about how she was spouting off at a concert on her politics and people booed and left.

At the time the idea was that musicians should shut up about politics and be entertainers at events people pay for.

I think the same should go for the Nuge.

I am sick and tired of the Dems trying to say oh were not going to take your guns away from us, they are lying and if they get enough votes that are veto proof they are going to put in another gun ban and take legal guns away. Ted might not have said it very cleanly but he has a point.

Then again, some here at this blog take the position that we can ban certain items and it is a “permissive surrender” to stop the fight against them. “The permissive society doesn’t work.” and all that bullshit. Some at this blog would say that “The solution is not to abandon the fight against the inroads of guns into our society.”

Personally, I support freedom. Many disagree and will do anything, even lie and slander, to fight the idea of freedom. Be forewarned, you gun supporters, for you will have your motives questioned. Some will attempt to change the subject into gun crime and will focus on that subject. This is a cheap trick, but it is not uncommon. Keep the focus on freedom and the right to defend your autonomy!

Musicians and such artists are a very important and valuable aspect in society but definitely not in politics. This makes about as much sense as Britney Spears ranting about safer environment for children.

Maybe his on-stage actions are questionable to those who believe that guns kill people. Making a statement about your personal beliefs often involves going to extremes, which I think he did not.

Nothing expresses your beliefs and your right to do so more than drawing attention to your beliefs.

It’s open for discussion, but as an ex-boy scout, be prepared.

I saw Ted in concert a couple of times in my younger days...good shows as I recall and I still have Stranglehold in my regular shuffle. That said, in political terms he’s goofy...not for his ideas which are legitimate even though I don’t endorse them but in terms of electability he’s a loon.

Payments to foreign governments must be reduced if the nation doesn’t want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

You’re right here. The only way he could get away with his behavior is if he was a Democrat. Onstage antics don’t matter in that party.

I was at the West Fargo Ted concert this past June. He didn’t get that much into politics, but he did end up going on a bit about Hillary Clinton. Personally, I don’t care what he does. What was kind of ironic is that someone at the Ted concert was wearing a “2004 Vote for Change” t-shirt. Its a good thing Uncle Ted didn’t spot it..

Personally, I don’t care if entertainers get political on stage.  Free speech, right?  If Ted’s audience likes it (and clearly they did) so be it.

What I hate is when people like the Dixie Chicks get political, and then complain when they alienate their fan base.  They act like they’ve been censored when really their fans are just exercising some freedoms of their own.

If Ted lost fans over this (I don’t think he will, but if he did) it’d be his fault and nobody else’s.

Rob,
“If Ted lost fans over this (I don’t think he will, but if he did) it’d be his fault and nobody else’s.”

Good comparison to the Dipsy Clucks, who whined and moaned about censorship after venturing into the political woods. At least when Nugent ventures there, he is armed literally and intellectually.

Ted was way over the top here IMO. No good can come of it.  He has definately lost some respect over this. At the very least he is no “class act”.

He does this at just about every concert, though.

I would feel comfortable in saying that Uncle Ted got a visit from Uncle Secret Service. You can’t be making statements like that about serving US Senators without the men with radios in their ears come a tap tap tapping at your parlor door.

I highly doubt it since he says stuff like this all the time. He even said at at the West Fargo concert in June.

Then he has had that visit already. If it is part of his stage show then he gets a pass just like other entertainers. You can bet they watch him closer than they watch the guys in Coldplay and Greenday.

I saw Rage Against the Machine in Wisconsin last night and they went into a similar preachy deal.  Stuff about how Bush need to be tried for war crimes.

Politics and music do not go together.  Although Rage at least has been doing this from the start.

Either way, it’s nice to just go see a show and not have to hear their opinion on politics.  If I wanted to know what it was I’m sure I could find it out.  I came he hear you play not preach!

Also, as a strong supporter of 2nd amendment right, I don’t think he is helping the cause w/ non gun owners this way.

Nugent dropped a load in his pants when his country wanted him to carry a gun

when it was time to register for the draft during the Vietnam era.

By his own admission

, Nugent stopped all forms of personal hygiene for a month and showed up for his draft board physical in pants caked with his own urine and feces, winning a deferment.
