“Tea Party” Beats GOP In Generic Polling
And there isn’t even really an organized “tea party” beyond state-level, grassroots organizations.
And those are more advocacy groups than political parties that are running candidates.
In a three-way Generic Ballot test, the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds Democrats attracting 36% of the vote. The Tea Party candidate picks up 23%, and Republicans finish third at 18%. Another 22% are undecided.
Neither the “tea party” nor the GOP beats the Democrats, but notice that if you combine the “tea party” and the Republicans together you get 41% of the vote.
That indicates to Republicans that they had better start listening to the tea party movement, and bringing tea party people and tea party-endorsed candidates into the fold, or be prepared to stay in the minority.
