Taxpayers Footing The Bill For Sex Change Surgery For Convicted, Imprisoned Murderer

r620-fa3e167e5cf7554019ccfa65f5a26d84

Sure. Why not? It’s not like we have $16 trillion in national debt and more entitlement obligations than we could ever hope to pay for.

Robert Kosilek was married to a woman. Then he murdered her and went to prison, where he changed his name to Michelle and began identifying as a woman.

Now a federal judge in Boston has ruled that Kosilek is entitled to a taxpayer-funded sex-change operation because he has “gender-identity disorder.”

“Everybody has the right to have their health care needs met, whether they are in prison or out on the streets,” the AP quotes Kosilek as saying. “People in the prisons who have bad hearts, hips or knees have surgery to repair those things. My medical needs are no less important or more important than the person in the cell next to me

There was once an era when “rights” were about protecting an individual from the collective. These days it seems “rights” are all about imposing obligations to the individual on the collective.

It’s as though we’ve concluded that everyone has a right to live at the expense of everyone else. Or, at least, at the expense of the half of society that pays all the taxes.

My first thought was: When did Ozzy Osbourne lose the weight and why does he want to have a sex change operation?

How about all the people getting disability for “mental disorders”? How about all the people getting disability that move around just fine? The list of parasites is endless.

It’s in Massachusetts and it’s a convicted felon, so you know it does.

      • Onslaught1066

        True.

  • mikemc1970

Sounds like the state needs to develop unable-to-pay-for-useless-crap disorder. So does the federal government.

  • SigFan

And that is a pure example of liberal lunacy and PC run amok. A convicted murderer, already living on the taxpayer dime is going to get gender reassignment surgery on the taxpayer dime because he/she/it has “issues”. Only in liberal lala land does that make any sense whatsoever.

Who do you think should pay for prisoners’ medical care?

      • robert108

Sex change surgery isn’t “medical care”, it’s pure left wing politics.
Can a retired person on Medicare get the same surgery?

        • davoarid

“Sex change surgery isn’t medical care.”
OK. So who do you think should pay for prisoners’ medical care?

          • robert108

I’m not going to enable your need to change the subject here to hide from the truth.

          • leh

What does it matter if sex change surgery isn’t medical care?

      • SigFan

People incarcerated for less than a capital offense should be provided minimal medical care. Gender reassignment is not minimal medical care – and convicted murderers should not be incarcerated for longer than it takes to execute them.

the likes of Sandra Fluke……….who in addition to free contraception, also called for free sex change operations inside ObamaCare…..
….maybe the Kennedy family trust should set up an endowment fund?

Plastic surgery next, I would hope.

  • kevindf

It’s only taxpayer money; there’s always more where that came from. Just ask Obama, he’ll tell you!

    • jamermorrow

Federal Reserve can just print more money. Government spending increases demand right? We need people to spend right? Government probably thinks it is stimulating the economy. The world we live in.

      • Wayne

Those are Democrat ideas of government function not Republican. Too bad you can’t see the difference.

        • jamermorrow

Please, Bush believed in government stimulus. Nixon took us off the gold standard. Cheney said deficits don’t matter. Get the Republican schlongs out of your mouth.

          • robert108

False. President Bush didn’t “believe” in it, he was forced into it by the pressure of the left wing media falsely blaming him for the crash of the Democrat home loan mandate bubble, and the Pelosi/Reid Congress.

I knew a fellow quite well who, when in his fifties, decided he wanted to be a woman. He was about 6’2″, gangly, and really so ugly I cannot believe even his mother loved him. He craved attention and was King Nerd and Prince Dork of the Twin Cities. He managed to find someone somewhere in Wisconsin to do the operation, even though the University of Minnesota Hospital—famous for sex-change operations—was just down the street. (Their psychological screening process for this procedure is quite rigorous and I can’t believe he could have passed it.) Anyway, after the operation, it was very much into wearing see-through blouses. Dozens, if not hundreds, of people who have met it were scarred for life.

    • The Fighting Czech

I knew of a person who had one of these “procedures” he too went from a he to a she. also know that this guy was really “F”ed up. the U of MInn my have “rigorous” psychological screening, but they sure screwed the pooch on this guy. After the “procedure” He also made an ugly looking woman, not to mention that she/’he was still a basket case. even told a co-worker a few years later, that “she” regretted having the surgery.

        108 would hit it.

“People in the prisons who have bad hearts, hips or knees have surgery to repair those things.”
Who do conservatives think should pay for criminals’ medical bills?

    • mikemc1970

That’s an elective operation like a nose job or liposuction. Not a medical necessity.

      • ‘Tom Crawford

If this is allowed, it won’t be long till we are footing the bill on nose jobs and liposuction…..

    • sbark

so we need ObamaCare death panels in prison?

    • robert108

The subject of this thread is the taxpayers being forced to pay for a sex change operation for this murderer. How do you justify that?

      • Davo

Because I think taxpayers should pay for criminals’ medical bills. (I have no idea if the other conservatives on this site agree with me, because none of them have been able to answer the very direct and very simple question.)

        • mikemc1970

It’s elective surgery. Not necessary. Not covered.

          • ‘Tom Crawford

            Agree whole-heartedly.

If it is LIFE threatening, fine, but this is considered elective surgery and not essential to you staying alive.

        • yy4u2

Do the criminals a favor and go out and find people who are willing to give money to your beliefs. If their families aren’t willing to help them out, then either am I.
I also think you are wrong that no one has been able to answer what you perceive to be a simple question. None of us want to have adult conversations with a child like yourself.

        • Thresherman

This person violently took the life of another human being and Davo thnks that he should be rewarded with a sex change at public expense. If he cannot discern between that and credible health issues like heart diease, cancer, pneumonia, broken bones and so on, then there is no way to reasonably communicate with him.
Of course if he believes so strongly that this sex change should be paid out of the public treasury, there is nothing stopping him and other like-mindeds, from writing out a check for a thousand dollars each to state of Mass. to cover the bill. But I suspect like most liberals, he is generous only with other people’s money.

        • robert108

Once again, this is NOT a medical bill.

        • tony_o2

Criminals should pay for their medical bills through labor.

And this is an elective operation. There is no necessity for him to get this “medical care”. If he can’t pay for it, tough.
