    Generally, I respect Snopes, but this time they were going overboard shilling for Hillary. For example, while this quote (in context) addressed a group of wealthy Democrats, I’m pretty sure she wasn’t going to restrict the tax hikes just to them:

    Many of you are well enough off that … the tax cuts may have helped you,” Sen. Clinton said. “We’re saying that for America to get back on track, we’re probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.”

    The claim made by Snopes is:

    This is an accurate quote, but also a misleading one in that it completely omits the context. Senator Clinton was not addressing the general public, but rather a group of relatively well-to-do Democrats attending a June 2004 fundraiser for California senator Barbara Boxer. And her statement specifically referred to a desire to repeal tax cuts that had recently been enacted by the Bush administration, cuts which Democrats had criticized as favoring the wealthy

    I call bullshit. When marxists/socialists talk about “taking away”–who the hell are they referring to except the more affluent? The meaning hasn’t changed one iota by adding more context to the quote.

    I knew it was a setup and so I had a suspician these were Hillary quotes. Otherwise, I would have agonized and missed them all.

    Don’t tell Whistler, I have to go to a dang Union meeting in a few minutes; but my role there is to irriate them and I am very, very good at irritating people.

    Hillary SYMBOLIZES the problem, which is that so many ‘Americans’ want to slack off, suck off, pig out at the trough of ‘government’ largesse when such ‘largesse’ is, in truth, coming not from some KING or DICTATOR or President-for-Life who personally rules over us, but from the pockets of those of us who work, create and pay taxes.
