Take Action: Local Government Transparency Bill To Get Vote Today
1:18pm
Last legislative session North Dakota passed a law requiring the creation of a database making details about state spending accessible to the public. Now this legislative session there is a bill, HB1449, that would expand participation in that database beyond the state level and down to local governments.
Local governing entities would have to submit their final budgets to the state for inclusion in the database.
Naturally, the local governments have been griping that this will be too hard and too costly, but truth be told these entities are already required to produce a budget and submit it to the state. There really is no additional hardship.
HB1449 is set to be vote don today in the state house. Use the form below to North Dakota’s House of Representatives to support this bill.
