Swiftboat Veterans Ad Working

The Swiftboat Veterans for Truth ad is having its intended effect among independent voters (via INDC Journal).

WASHINGTON — Vietnam veterans opposing John Kerry have scored a hit with a tough TV ad that claims he lied about his war record — it makes swing voters think twice about backing Kerry, an independent study has found.
The ad planted doubts in the minds of 27 percent of independent voters who planned to vote for Kerry or leaned pro-Kerry. After seeing it, they were no longer sure they’d back him, the study found.
At issue is the ad run by an independently funded group known as Swift Veterans for Truth, which features 14 veterans who served in Vietnam along with Kerry as they accuse him of lying about his war record.
“The whole goal of a negative ad is to plant a seed of doubt — and it did,” said Professor Chris Borrick of Muhlenberg College, who did the ad study with the firm HCD Research.

Of course, Kerry could alleviate alot of those doubts by actually addressing this issue with the truth and putting it to bed.
That’s assuming, of course, that the claims made by the Swiftboat Vets aren’t the truth.

George Bush is an asshole, he should be in jail for treason, not running for president. Swiftboat vets, get your head out of your ass

As the election nears, it is time to assess your choice of who you will elect as your President. Bush, without doubt, is a maniac, one just need look into his eyes as he speaks, he has the same eyes as John Gacey, and Ted Bundy, both of whom were insane. Do you want someone of this calibre to lead your country? i do not. Elect Bush, and I gurantee he will start a nuclear battle, yes you may win the war, (after all America has more weapons of mass destruction) but it will cost you dearly. You must elect a President that will re-establish the UN as the voice of the people of the world, only then, will peace be achieved. Bush talks like a cowboy, not a diplomat

I think that it is likely that John Kerry received a less than honorable discharge from Vietnam. That is the only reason that I can think of that explains his refusal to release hiis 180 form. The media should be demanding that he release this form.

Kerry is and always be a traitor to his fellow countrymen. Yeah, we have free speech unless you want to hear the truth about Kerry .Then he doesn”t want you to see or hear of any of his real doings. He does not want you to even read his own biography”Tour Of Duty”or even had Sinclair not air the “Stolen Honor” story.Yet he would love to have you see that Bullsh…. from Michael(Puke) Moore”s fahrenheit911. So I would suggest that you see the exposure of M.M.”s lies and see FahrenHYPE/911 Ask the POW”s about “Scary Kerry”

Damm Michael… don’t you undercut your own argument?

“Nam was 1 year in a life. As a viet Vet, I am so tired of semi-pro vets blaming their life failure on 1 year in Nam, still wearing fatigues, a 1968 haircut, combat boots. Kerry went,”

Why haven’t you tired of Kerry constantly, metaphoricly speaking, wearing fatigues, a 1968 haircut, combat boots? That is exactly what he has done for the last 18 months and centered his entire nominating convention around Vietnam. Why just two days ago he was still beating the Vietnam drum

Democratic presidential nominee and Vietnam War veteran John Kerry tried to burnish his national security credentials on Saturday by vowing to hunt down terrorists with the same energy he used to pursue the Viet Cong.

But just what type of “energy” did it take Michael? He bugged out of ‘nam in less than 4 months of a 12 month tour with less than serious injuries.

On another point, you denigrate those that would be critical of Kerry’s service but feel no remorse to do the same to the Swift Vets. Why is that Michael? They don’t fit your agenda?

Michael, take this challenge then come back and lets us know if the SBVT are as evil as you may believe.

Nam was 1 year in a life. As a viet Vet, I am so tired of semi-pro vets
blaming their life failure on 1 year
in Nam, still wearing fatigues, a 1968
    haircut, combat boots. Kerry went,
served, came back and spoke out, both
of which took more courage than bush/
cheney (their colors DO run) will ever
show. speaking out got him on the Nixon enemies list. Freedom of speech is a right, not treason. The swift boat crap is just a
puppet group for Rowe, to distract
from Bush’s fortunate son record. Having gone through training with
several NGs, in 1970 they were upfront
about avoiding Nam, and the No Guts label
for National Guard, they said “you got
that right”. So when Bush puts his
    pathetic military record (look Mom!!
no cavities) against Kerry’s and todays
NG service, it turns my stomach.
(Clinton gave me the dry heaves, too).
    Don’t be such a chump. Bush/Cheney
is only for the wealthy, and the wealthy leave the fighting for poor kids.

There is another “Swiftboat Tale” that has not been given much light thus far. It comes by way of a Kerry endorsement from Humane USA. In an interview he was asked this question – “Do you have any pets that have made an impact on you personally?” Kerry response included the obligatory Vietnam reference.

I have always had pets in my life and there are a few that I remember very fondly. When I was serving on a swiftboat in Vietnam, my crewmates and I had a dog we called VC. We all took care of him, and he stayed with us and loved riding on the swiftboat deck. I think he provided all of us with a link to home and a few moments of peace and tranquility during a dangerous time. One day as our swiftboat was heading up a river, a mine exploded hard under our boat. After picking ourselves up, we discovered VC was MIA. Several minutes of frantic search followed after which we thought we’d lost him. We were relieved when another boat called asking if we were missing a dog. It turns out VC was catapulted from the deck of our boat and landed confused, but unhurt, on the deck of another boat in our patrol.

This raises a few question in my mind. Is “VC” actually Jim Rassman? If not why didn’t “VC” also give his life saving testimony at the DNC? Is “VC” one of the CIA operatives that was in on the gun running missions? etc, etc.

And the biggest question of all. Why doesn’t everyone see that Kerry is a self aggrandizing, over inflated prick that will say and do anything dependent on the audience he stands before?

I served on a Navy cruser from 68-71 in the Gulf of Tokin. I received a hero’s welcome of being pelted with baggies of piss and shit when I came home. I have applied for about a 100 federal, state & city jobs in the last 35 yrs. I’am still applying. After hearing what Mr. Keery, said about us, I now know why my life has been destroyed. Can you believe this jerk??

And exactly how is that any different from pres. Bush?
