Swedish Court Rules That Prisoner Has A Right To Pornography

I’m not familiar with Sweden’s laws so I can’t comment on the ruling, but here in America you’d think it’d be ok to deny prisoners access to porn while incarcerated.  The Constitution simply states that all citizens must have due process of law before their liberty is removed, and we already deny prisoners access to, well, the ability to walk around free.  Some places have even stopped prisoners from smoking.  So why not porn too?

Of course, on the flip side of that, if giving a violent sex offender access to porn makes him less of a risk to guards and other prisoners...why not?  That’s assuming that the prisoner in question is in for life, of course.  If not, the goal of prison is rehabilitation.  And I fail to see how pornography is part of the rehabilitation process for sex offenders.

Pornography may have caused the problem in the first place. It’s not about consenting adults. It’s about exploitation.

Those guys who wrote the First Amendment didn’t foresee freedom without respect.

What ever happened to personal responsibility? What about the porn stars, many of whom obviously love their jobs?

Your “exploitation” argument sounds like something a communist would say.

Surreal; the Court effectively says “let’s get these men dressed up with no place to go,” more or less.

Also, those who defend porn should remember the example of Ted Bundy, who pointed to porn as a factor that led to his crimes.  Sorry, guys, but if a well crafted commercial encourages people to buy Coke or cars, a similar film can induce people to emulate what goes on in the film.

Great job?  Well, not if you judge by the drug and medical care center the industry runs to take care of its workers, Lik.  Having sex with strangers in front of the camera is not exactly a healthy behavior.
