This blog is the shining light of truth in North Dakota (the Dakota Beacon being #2). We greatly appreciate your hard work, Rob, to bring things to the surface that would otherwise be kept buried.

For the near future, however, most people will keep reading the Forum, turning on channel 6 news, listening to KFGO, etc. where Kent, Byron and Earl are held up as royalty. We can only hope that as the their eyes and ears are eventually opened to places like Say Anything Blog, things will change.

If Pelosi did it, what are the republicans waiting for? Why not put republican congressmen quotes in every issue of the WSJ, NYPost, Fox News, etc, etc. Why are the republicans so wimpish?? To paraphrase: “Do unto others just like they did it to you!”

Time to get over it. This thing is going NOWHERE! The Democratic congressional “leadership” won’t investigate…the sheep-like North Dakota media won’t report…the voters of ND who believe that Conrad, Dorgan and Pomeroy equal the “Holy Trinity” won’t care.

We are stuck with these three forever, sorry to say. No matter what they do: bouncing House bank account checks, getting sweetheart mortgage deals, skipping out of their hometown celebration in favor of a big bucks out-of-state fundraiser, and on, and on, and on.

Rob- I used to be optomistic that we could defeat at least one of our congressional troika, but let’s face facts: not one GOP elected official from North Dakota on the federal level since 1986. I was 13 years old then! An entire generation has gone by without knowing anything but these guys (I know quite a few people born in ’86 who now have kids of their own.)

Many of us, myself included, thought that Ed Schafer would be our great hope…not. Then Rick Clayburgh…not. Poolman…not. Clark, Cramer, Stenehjem…you get the picture. Hoeven might run someday, but he is so much like them that even if he did win (doubtful) we’d be in the same position.

I apologize for being so pessimistic, but this recent Conrad “scandal” just shows the power these guys have over our in-state media and the public in general. I thought this might expose him to some harsh criticism for the first time, but I’ve talked to others this week whose attitude is “yeah, Conrad got a special deal, but he’s still bringing home the dollars for us so we need to keep him in Washington”. If you can’t get past that, you’ll never defeat him, Dorgan or Pomeroy.

According to the New York Times, Democrats blocked Bush’s Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac reforms so low income people with bad credit could buy houses.
”These two entities -Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac – are not facing any kind of financial crisis. The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, and the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.” said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee.

I don’t disagree with anything you said. But even so…hope springs eternal my friend.

Plus, the North Dakota media doesn’t have a stranglehold on information any more. I like to think that I’m helping with that aspect of things, though I certainly don’t want to overstate the influence of this blog either.
