Supreme Court Rules That Racial Discrimination (AKA “Affirmative Action”) In Schools Is Wrong
Even when that discrimination has “diversity” or other good intentions as it’s basis.
The problem is that far too many people in the government tend to see the various racial demographics in this country as characteristically homogeneous groups of people rather than individuals who just happen to share the same skin color and sometimes cultural backgrounds. Racial minorities are game pieces to be moved about an education game board in search of the ideal formula for “diversity” that will yield the best students. They’re people, each different from the next.
So bearing that in mind, the real solution to this constant battle over race in our schools is to give each individual student a choice. That means school vouchers. By putting the choice of which school to attend in the hands of the individual students themselves no school district can be accused of giving preferential treatment to one race over another. At least as far as enrollment goes, anyway.
But this is far too much freedom for the liberals in school administration and the teachers unions, who feel that it is their job to tell us where we will be educated and how.
